Scraper Operator

About This Role

Scraper Operator needed in Chandler, AZ to run scrapers and move/level large volumes of earth on commercial and site-development projects. This is hands-on work: you’ll be expected to operate equipment precisely, follow safety rules, and keep machines in good working order. You’ll work with grading crews and foremen to meet production targets and grade specs. If you take pride in clean, safe work, know scraper and loader operation, and can perform basic hydraulic maintenance, this job is a solid fit.

What You'll Do

• • Operate scraper machinery to cut, load, haul and place material to specified grades and lines
• • Adjust equipment settings and controls for load size, depth and travel speed to meet grade and production targets
• • Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections; report defects and complete routine hydraulic and mechanical checks
• • Coordinate with flaggers, graders and ground crew to maintain layout, safety and efficient workflow
• • Keep the jobsite tidy: remove debris, secure materials and perform site clean-up at shift end
• • Follow site safety plans, use PPE, and enforce safe work practices among crew when operating equipment

What We're Looking For

• • Proven scraper operation experience and comfort operating loaders and other heavy earthmoving equipment
• • Hands-on heavy equipment hydraulic maintenance and basic troubleshooting skills
• • Strong knowledge of safe operating procedures and ability to enforce safety on site
• • Ability to read simple grade stakes, plans and use basic surveying tools
• • Physical stamina for long shifts outdoors in varied weather and ability to climb ladders and perform manual tasks
• • Reliable attendance, ability to work with a crew, and good communication on site

Qualifications

• • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to site
• • OSHA 10-hour construction card preferred (or OSHA 30)
• • Class A CDL preferred but not required; ability to obtain if needed
• • NCCER or other heavy equipment operator certification a plus
• • Ability to pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background check
• • Basic English for safety communication; Spanish a plus
