This is field work: expect local travel to job sites in North Alabama, varied day-to-day tasks, and steady hours when projects are active. Candidates should be able to inspect and care for their machines, follow site signals and safety rules, and work directly with crews to get the job done right.

What You'll Do

  • Operate excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, skid steers, scrapers and dump trucks for excavation, grading, paving and material handling.
  • Read grade stakes and basic plans; perform accurate grading, trenching, backfill and site preparation.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections, basic maintenance, and report or tag out defects; assist mechanics with hydraulic and diesel repairs when needed.
  • Follow site safety procedures, traffic control and flagger directions; communicate clearly with crew and foreman on-site.
  • Load and unload materials, perform site clean-up, and carry out demolition tasks as assigned.
  • Transport equipment between sites, maintain time and equipment logs, and support setup/tear-down tasks at job sites.

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years operating heavy construction equipment on civil, paving or site work projects.
  • Proven ability with dozer, excavator, loader, grader and skid steer; experience with dump truck and forklift a plus.
  • Basic mechanical skills for hydraulic and diesel engine troubleshooting and routine maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of construction methods, materials and grade control.
  • Strong safety record and the ability to follow signals, PPE requirements and site rules.
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality and ability to pass a drug screen.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • OSHA 10 (preferred)
  • NCCCO, NCCER or other heavy equipment/operator certification (preferred)
  • Forklift certification (preferred)
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • English required; Spanish helpful

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay with overtime opportunities
  • Steady work across North Alabama and local travel reimbursement or mileage pay
  • Paid safety training and PPE provided
  • Opportunities for paid upskilling and equipment-specific certifications
  • Flexible schedules when possible and extra pay for weekend/overtime work
  • Consistent project pipeline—civil, paving and site-prep work
