About This Role

Operate dozers, excavators, backhoes, loaders and graders on excavation, grading, paving and utility installation projects in Baltimore, MD. You’ll run machines, perform daily inspections and basic maintenance, and work with the crew to keep jobs on schedule. This is hands-on field work — expect outdoor conditions, physical tasks and a focus on safety. Reliable operators who read plans, follow procedures, and communicate clearly with foremen and crew will do well in this role.

What You'll Do

  • Operate dozers, excavators, backhoes, loaders, graders and common attachments safely and efficiently.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections, routine greasing/oiling, basic troubleshooting and report defects.
  • Review plans and blueprints with the field manager to determine work sequence and safe operation.
  • Grade, dig trenches, backfill, load/unload material and assist with paving and utility installs as directed.
  • Follow company safety policies, set up traffic control when required, and maintain a tidy job site.
  • Coordinate with crew members and supervisors to meet project schedules and quality standards.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 2 years operating heavy construction equipment (dozer, excavator, backhoe, loader, grader).
  • Ability to perform daily preventive maintenance and basic repairs.
  • Able to read basic plans/blueprints and follow field instructions.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather and performing physical labor.
  • Valid driver’s license required; must pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.
  • Must pass background check and be reliable with good attendance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen, physical exam and background check
  • NCCCO or equivalent heavy equipment operator certification preferred
  • OSHA-10 (or OSHA-30) preferred
  • CDL Class B preferred but not required
