Heavy Equipment Operator — Motor Grader (Finish Grading)

About this role

Experienced heavy equipment operators needed in and around Damascus, VA to run motor graders for fine/finish grading. You’ll be responsible for producing accurate slopes and smooth final surfaces on road and site projects. This role is hands-on — expect to spend full days on the machine and work closely with foremen and crew to meet grade and schedule. Pay is $32.00 per hour plus a $100 per day per diem for each day worked. Candidates must have at least 5+ years of heavy equipment experience with proven motor grader finish-grading skills. Local and regional project assignments with daily per diem provided while on the job.

What you'll do

• • Operate motor graders for fine and finish grading to achieve specified slopes, elevations, and surface smoothness
• • Read and follow grade stakes, plans, and machine-control/GPS systems to meet grade tolerances
• • Perform pre- and post-shift equipment inspections; report issues and do basic maintenance and adjustments
• • Coordinate with site supervisors, spotters, and paving/crew members to maintain workflow and safety
• • Keep accurate time, equipment, and production logs; follow site safety rules and traffic control procedures

What we're looking for

• • Minimum 5+ years of heavy equipment operating experience with demonstrated motor grader finish-grading ability
• • Hands-on experience with civil construction and paving work, including grader operation and related equipment
• • Skilled in general heavy equipment maintenance and basic troubleshooting
• • Ability to read grade stakes, basic plans, and use machine-control/GPS systems where provided
• • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to/from Damascus, VA; able to work outdoors in variable weather

Qualifications

• • Minimum 5+ years operating motor graders (finish grading experience required)
• • Valid driver’s license; clean driving record preferred
• • CDL preferred but not required (list if available)
• • OSHA 10 (preferred) and other safety certifications a plus
• • Ability to communicate in English; Spanish language skills a plus
