Heavy Equipment Operator — Motor Grader (Damascus, VA)

About this role

Experienced heavy equipment operators needed in and around Damascus, VA to run motor graders for finish and fine grading. This is hands-on field work focused on producing accurate slopes and smooth final surfaces on roads and civil sites. Pay is $32/hr plus a $100 per diem for every day worked. Candidates must bring strong motor grader skills, at least 5+ years of heavy equipment operating experience, and the ability to read grades and work with a crew to complete projects safely and on schedule.

What you'll do

• • Operate motor graders for fine/finish grading to achieve specified slope, elevation, and surface smoothness
• • Set up and check grades, slopes, and stringlines; use laser/slope controls and hand tools as needed
• • Perform pre- and post-shift equipment checks, basic maintenance, and report defects
• • Coordinate with crew members, grade checkers, and foremen to follow plans and correct issues on site
• • Follow safety procedures, maintain clean work area, and comply with site-specific rules and traffic control requirements

What we're looking for

• • Minimum 5+ years of heavy equipment operating experience with proven motor grader/finishing work
• • Proven ability with grader operation, slope/grade control, and finish-surface techniques
• • Hands-on experience with general heavy equipment maintenance and civil construction site practices
• • Familiarity with other equipment: dozer, loader, excavator, skid steer, and dump truck operation
• • Ability to read grade stakes, plans, and use laser/slope controls; follow directions from grade checkers and foremen
• • Reliable attendance, ability to work outdoors in varying conditions, and pass drug screening

Qualifications

• • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job site
• • 5+ years heavy equipment experience with motor grader/final grading work
• • Ability to pass drug screen and background check
• • OSHA-10 or equivalent safety training preferred
• • CDL (Class A/B) — a plus but not required
• • Basic English communication for safety and crew coordination
