Motor Grader Operator

About this role

Seek experienced motor grader operators to perform finish grading on civil construction projects in and around Damascus, VA. This role focuses on precise surface work—creating accurate slopes, elevations and smooth final surfaces on active construction sites. You should have strong finish-grading experience, be comfortable working on busy job sites, and be prepared for full-time on-site work. Daily per diem and site-specific safety training are provided; travel and extended hours may be required depending on project needs.

What you'll do

• • Operate motor grader for finish grading to specified slopes, elevations, and surface tolerances
• • Set up grade controls, check stringlines and laser/stake elevations, and make precise adjustments
• • Perform pre- and post-shift equipment inspections and basic maintenance to keep machines operating safely
• • Coordinate with foremen, surveyors, and other equipment operators to sequence work and meet schedule
• • Maintain clean, safe work areas and follow site safety plans and traffic control procedures
• • Read plans and grade sheets; confirm measurements and report discrepancies to supervision

What we're looking for

• • Minimum 5 years' experience operating motor graders with demonstrated finish-grading skills
• • Proven experience in civil construction and paving projects
• • Proficiency with grader controls and grade-setting tools (laser, GPS, stringline)
• • Ability to perform basic heavy-equipment maintenance and daily inspections
• • Comfortable working on active construction sites and following safety procedures
• • Experience operating other heavy equipment (dozer, loader, excavator, backhoe) is a plus

Qualifications

• • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• • Class A CDL preferred but not required
• • OSHA 10-hour construction card or equivalent preferred
• • Ability to pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and background checks
• • Able to read grade plans and basic survey notes; English proficiency for safety communications
