Motor Grader Operator

About this role

Seeking experienced Motor Grader Operators in Damascus, VA. This is a hands-on finish-grading role on civil and paving jobs. Pay is $32/hour plus a $100 per diem for each day worked. You’ll run the grader to produce accurate slopes, elevations, and smooth final surfaces on active construction sites. We need dependable operators with strong finish-grading skills and at least 5+ years of heavy equipment experience.

What you'll do

• • Operate motor grader for precise finish grading to specified slopes, elevations, and smoothness
• • Read grade stakes, plans, and stringlines; make adjustments to meet grade tolerances
• • Perform pre- and post-shift equipment checks and basic maintenance (fluid levels, greasing, blade checks)
• • Work safely on active job sites, follow flagging and traffic control, and coordinate with crew
• • Keep accurate production and time records and report equipment issues promptly

What we're looking for

• • Minimum 5+ years operating motor graders with proven finish-grading ability
• • Experience on civil construction and paving projects
• • Familiarity with grader operation plus loader, dozer, excavator, and backhoe operation
• • Basic heavy equipment maintenance skills (checks, greasing, minor adjustments)
• • Reliable transportation to Damascus, VA; dependable attendance and strong work ethic

Qualifications

• • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• • Ability to pass drug screen and background check
• • OSHA 10-hour safety card preferred
• • Operator certification (NCCER or equivalent) preferred
• • Ability to read grade stakes and perform basic field math
