Heavy Equipment Operator — Motor Grader (Damascus, VA)

About this role

Experienced heavy equipment operators needed in and around Damascus, VA to run motor graders for finish grading. This role focuses on precise slope work and producing smooth final surfaces on roads, pads, and sitework. Pay is $32/hr plus a $100 per diem for each day worked. You must have at least 5+ years of motor grader/finish grading experience and be able to work reliably on local projects in the Damascus area. Expect hands-on grading, basic equipment maintenance, and close attention to grade and finish tolerances.

What you'll do

• • Operate motor graders for fine and finish grading to achieve accurate slopes and smooth surfaces
• • Read grade stakes, plans, and slope requirements; set grade and finish lines as required
• • Perform pre-shift and post-shift equipment checks and basic maintenance (fluids, greasing, blade adjustments)
• • Coordinate with crew, flaggers, and supervisors to maintain safe work zones and efficient workflow
• • Adjust grading approach to site conditions to meet specified tolerances and quality standards

What we're looking for

• • Minimum 5+ years operating motor graders with proven finish grading experience
• • Experience with general heavy equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
• • Familiarity operating related equipment (dozers, loaders, excavators, skid steers, dump trucks)
• • Ability to read basic plans and grade stakes and work to tight tolerances
• • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a drug screen

Qualifications

• • Valid driver's license (CDL Class A preferred)
• • OSHA-10 (or OSHA-30) or similar safety training preferred
• • NCCER or equipment-specific operator certifications a plus
• • Able to read grade stakes and construction plans; English proficiency required
• • Able to pass drug screen and background check
