Heavy Equipment Operator needed for nationwide assignments running light-duty construction machines. You’ll operate skid steers, dozers, excavators and backhoes on excavation, grading and material-handling jobs. Work is hands-on, outdoors, and fast-paced — bring safe habits and solid machine skills. This role fits experienced equipment hands who can perform daily checks, support site crews, and follow site safety procedures. Assignments vary by region and may include short-term travel; pay is competitive and based on experience, with overtime and travel pay where applicable.
What You'll Do
- • Operate skid steers, mini-excavators, dozers, backhoes and other light construction equipment for excavation, grading and material handling
- • Perform daily pre-start inspections, basic maintenance and report equipment issues
- • Load and unload materials, secure loads and assist with site logistics
- • Follow site safety plans, traffic control/flagging as required, and PPE rules at all times
- • Work with crew leads to complete scopes: digging trenches, backfill, grading, and site cleanup
- • Keep accurate job logs, complete timesheets and communicate delays or safety concerns to supervisors
What We're Looking For
- • Proven experience operating skid steer, excavator, dozer and backhoe on construction sites
- • Comfortable loading/unloading materials and performing general heavy-equipment maintenance
- • Knowledge of civil construction tasks: trenching, grading, backfill and erosion control
- • Ability to perform daily equipment inspections and basic repairs
- • Able to work outdoors in varied weather, lift materials and stand for long shifts
- • Reliable transportation to reporting locations and willingness to travel for assignments
Qualifications
- • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- • OSHA 10 (required) or OSHA 30 (preferred) for many sites
- • Certifications such as NCCER, equipment-specific tickets, or operator cards are a plus
- • Must pass drug screen and background check where required
- • Ability to read basic plans, follow verbal instructions and communicate in English
What We Offer
- • Competitive pay based on experience, with overtime pay available
- • Nationwide placements with travel pay or per diem for out-of-area assignments
- • Boot/safety-gear allowance or employer-provided PPE on many jobs
- • Consistent, steady work — short- and long-term assignments depending on region
- • Opportunities for paid training and certification reimbursement
