Heavy Equipment Operator (Loader & Backhoe) — Houston, TX

About This Role

Join a Houston-based site crew as a Heavy Equipment Operator running loaders and backhoes on commercial and residential projects. You'll move material, dig trenches, backfill, grade, and keep equipment maintained to keep jobs moving on schedule. This role pays $25–35/hr DOE with overtime available. Typical work is Monday–Friday with occasional Saturdays and early start times. We're looking for a dependable operator who knows their machines, follows safety rules, and shows up ready to work.

What You'll Do

• • Operate loader and backhoe to dig, trench, load/unload, backfill, and grade per job specs
• • Perform pre- and post-shift equipment inspections and basic maintenance (fluid checks, greasing, visual safety checks)
• • Load trucks, move materials on site, and place material to correct elevations and grades
• • Follow jobsite safety procedures, traffic controls, and directions from foreman or superintendent
• • Keep work area tidy—assist with site cleanup and traffic management as needed

What We're Looking For

• • Minimum 2 years hands-on experience operating loaders and backhoes on construction sites
• • Ability to read basic grade stakes and follow simple site plans
• • Comfort working in outdoor conditions, lifting, climbing in/out of equipment, and standing for long periods
• • Reliable transportation to jobsite and steady attendance
• • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a drug screen and background check

Qualifications

• • OSHA 10-hour construction card preferred
• • Equipment operator certification (NCCER or equivalent) a plus
• • Class A CDL preferred but not required
• • Ability to pass DOT physical if required for certain sites
• • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
