Heavy Equipment Foreman

About this role

Experienced heavy equipment leaders needed for a construction project near Amarillo, TX. This foreman role runs daily field operations for mass grading, underground utilities and HDPE pipe installation, directing large crews and coordinating multiple pieces of heavy equipment. The position requires travel to West Texas project sites. Per diem is available for eligible workers. You'll supervise safe, efficient production, communicate with supervisors and trades, and keep the job moving on schedule.

What you'll do

  • Lead and supervise crews of 20–40 employees on-site; assign crews and monitor daily productivity
  • Plan and coordinate heavy equipment activities (dozers, graders, scrapers, excavators, loaders, skid steers)
  • Oversee mass grading operations to meet grade, slope and drainage specifications
  • Manage underground utility and HDPE pipe installation activities, including stringing, welding and testing support
  • Enforce safety protocols, conduct toolbox talks and ensure compliance with site-specific safety plans
  • Track daily manpower, equipment hours, material needs and report progress to project management

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience supervising heavy equipment crews on mass grading and civil site work
  • Hands-on experience operating or directing dozers, motor graders, excavators, loaders, scrapers and skid steers
  • Familiarity with underground utilities and HDPE pipe installation techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, grade stakes and basic survey notes
  • Strong communication skills and experience coordinating multiple equipment operators and trades
  • Willingness to travel to West Texas project sites and work variable schedules as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in heavy civil construction with leadership responsibility
  • Previous foreman or superintendent-level experience preferred
  • Proficient reading of civil construction plans and grade control
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to job sites
  • Ability to pass drug/alcohol screening and background checks
  • OSHA 10 (or OSHA 30 preferred); equipment-specific certifications a plus; Spanish language skills a plus
