About This Role

Join a heavy civil construction crew in Malvern, PA as a Heavy Equipment Operator supporting milling and paving operations across the mid-Atlantic. You’ll run asphalt pavers, rollers, milling machines, backhoes and skid steers to build and maintain roads and other infrastructure. This is hands-on work — expect night and weekend shifts, occasional travel and overnight stays. You’ll be responsible for safe equipment operation, routine non-mechanical maintenance, clear crew communication and meeting daily production goals while working around live traffic.

What You'll Do

  • Operate asphalt pavers, rollers, milling machines, material transfer vehicles, backhoes and skid steers during milling and paving jobs.
  • Perform pre- and post-shift inspections and routine non-mechanical maintenance (cleaning, greasing, fluid checks) to keep equipment safe and productive.
  • Discuss daily plans with the field manager and adjust methods to complete assigned work safely and on time.
  • Communicate clearly with crew members, flaggers and supervisors to coordinate traffic control and on-site tasks.
  • Operate equipment with priority on crew safety and follow all site-specific and company safety procedures.
  • Work scheduled night and weekend shifts; travel and overnight stays may be required for assigned projects.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 2 years of heavy equipment operating experience in paving or milling operations.
  • Strong hand/foot/eye coordination and ability to operate multiple attachments safely.
  • Able to perform physical work for long periods and lift or handle materials up to 75 lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
  • Clear verbal and basic written communication skills to follow instructions and coordinate with crew.
  • Availability for nights, weekends and occasional overnight travel.

Qualifications

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license (required)
  • High school diploma or GED (preferred)
  • 2+ years of heavy-equipment operation experience (required)
  • OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour card (preferred)
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen, physical exam and background check
  • English required for safety communication; Spanish or other languages a plus
