What You'll Do

  • Safely operate backhoes, dozers, pavers, tractor pans, graders and related attachments for paving, excavation, pipe laying and grading.
  • Perform daily equipment checks and routine maintenance: clean, grease, check fluids, and report issues for repair.
  • Review plans and job instructions with the field manager; read basic blueprints and determine best sequence of work.
  • Make on-the-job decisions to maximize efficiency while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Adjust controls and attachments to grade, cut, fill, and place materials to specified lines and grades.
  • Keep work area tidy: assist with site cleanup, traffic control setup, and coordinated crew tasks as directed.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 2 years operating heavy construction equipment (backhoe, dozer, grader, paver, excavator preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
  • Ability to read basic drawings/grade stakes and follow verbal instructions from foremen.
  • Knowledge of routine equipment maintenance and safe operation practices.
  • Physically able to perform manual tasks, work outdoors in varied weather, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to follow site safety rules, attend toolbox talks, and use PPE consistently.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years heavy equipment operating experience.
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL A preferred but not required.
  • OSHA 10-hour construction card or equivalent is a plus.
  • Must pass drug and background screening and have reliable transportation to job sites.

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly pay with overtime opportunities and consistent work in the region.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage (details provided during hiring).
  • Paid time off and holiday pay; retirement savings/401(k) plan.
  • Paid on-the-job training and clear promotion path for skilled operators.
