Heavy Equipment Operator

Quakertown, PA $27-$44/hr

About this role

We’re hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator in Quakertown, PA to run backhoes, pavers, dozers, tractor pans and graders on paving, excavating, pipe-laying and grading projects. This role centers on safe, efficient operation of machines and routine equipment care. You’ll work on local construction sites with a crew, follow plans and field manager direction, perform daily maintenance, and help keep the job on schedule. On-the-job training and advancement opportunities are available; reliable, safety-first operators are encouraged to apply.

What you'll do

  • Operate backhoes, dozers, pavers, tractor pans, graders and other heavy equipment for paving, excavating, pipe laying and grading
  • Perform daily equipment maintenance: cleaning, greasing, checking fluids, basic adjustments and reporting defects
  • Review plans and blueprints with the field manager and follow layout and grade requirements
  • Make on-the-job decisions to ensure safe, efficient equipment operation and proper attachment use
  • Follow all site safety policies and equipment maintenance procedures; participate in toolbox talks and safety briefings
  • Assist with site setup, traffic control, cleanup and relocating equipment between jobsites as needed

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 2 years operating heavy construction equipment (backhoe, dozer, paver, grader, excavator preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license required and reliable transportation to jobsite
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints, grade stakes and layout instructions
  • Strong focus on safety, ability to follow site-specific procedures and work as part of a crew
  • Physical ability to perform manual tasks, climb on/off equipment and work in varied weather conditions

Qualifications

  • 2+ years heavy equipment operating experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Experience with backhoe, dozer, paver and grader operations
  • Ability to read plans and work with field managers to meet project specs
  • Flagging/traffic control or related certifications a plus
