Heavy Equipment Operator
About this role
We’re hiring experienced heavy equipment operators to work on construction projects throughout the Raleigh, NC area. You’ll run excavators, dozers, loaders and other heavy gear to support excavation, grading, material handling and site prep. This is hands-on site work on public and private projects across the Raleigh region. Expect day shifts with occasional overtime, local travel between jobs, and an emphasis on safe, productive work. Reliable transportation to the site and a strong safety mindset are required.
What you'll do
- • Safely operate excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes and other heavy equipment for excavation, grading and material handling
- • Support concrete and paving operations: assist with placement, compaction, and protection as directed
- • Read and follow site layouts, civil drawings and grade stakes to achieve correct elevations and lines
- • Perform daily equipment checks, basic maintenance, fueling and reporting of defects
- • Follow site safety procedures, maintain clean work areas, and coordinate with foremen and crew members
- • Assist with rigging, traffic control, demolition tasks and material moving as needed on site
What we're looking for
- • Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment on active sites
- • Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, site layout and grade stakes
- • Experience supporting concrete placement, paving (asphalt/concrete), and basic demolition work
- • Competence with rigging, material handling and safe load movements
- • Strong commitment to site safety and following written procedures and directions
- • Able to perform daily equipment inspections and basic troubleshooting
Qualifications
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to local job sites
- • OSHA 10 (or OSHA 30 preferred) or equivalent safety training
- • Equipment operator certification (NCCER or equivalent) preferred
- • Ability to pass drug screening and background check
- • Competency in rigging/signal person duties; flagger training a plus
- • English required; Spanish-speaking candidates encouraged to apply
