Dozer & Excavator Operator — Richmond, VA

About this role

Dozer and excavator operators needed in Richmond, VA to support site grading, specialty concrete, and underground utility work. You’ll run dozers and/or excavators on heavy civil sites, perform basic equipment maintenance, and work with a crew focused on safety and getting the job done right. This is hands-on work for operators with at least 2 years’ experience. Expect steady hours, overtime when needed, clear direction from foremen, and opportunities to move up with training and advancement.

What you'll do

• • Safely operate dozers and/or excavators for site grading, excavation, backfill, and fine grading
• • Perform daily pre-start inspections and basic maintenance (fluid checks, grease, track/tire checks)
• • Assist crew with layout, trenching, loading/unloading materials, and site cleanup as needed
• • Follow directions from foremen and communicate equipment needs or site issues promptly
• • Adhere to all site safety policies, wear required PPE, and enforce safe work practices

What we're looking for

• • Minimum 2 years’ experience operating dozers and/or excavators on construction sites
• • Experience in heavy civil construction (site grading, utilities, or similar) preferred
• • Ability to perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on assigned equipment
• • Reliable transportation to the job site and ability to work varied schedules/overtime
• • Willingness to perform manual labor tasks and work outdoors in all weather conditions
• • Pass pre-employment drug screening and background check

Qualifications

• • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• • OSHA 10 (or higher) preferred
• • Equipment operator certifications (e.g., NCCER, manufacturer certs) are a plus
• • Able to read basic site plans and understand hand signals/flagging
