Heavy Equipment Operator
About this role
We’re hiring heavy equipment operators in Houston, TX for civil construction, site work and paving projects. You’ll operate dozers, excavators, loaders, skid steers and other earthmoving gear on local job sites and follow directions from supervisors and foremen. This is hands-on work: run equipment safely and accurately, perform daily inspections and basic maintenance, help with material handling, traffic control and site cleanup. Ideal candidates know construction methods, can read grade information and enforce safety rules on site.
What you'll do
- • Operate excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, backhoes, graders and dump trucks as assigned
- • Read and follow site plans, grade stakes and directions from supervisors
- • Conduct pre-shift equipment inspections, perform basic hydraulic and diesel maintenance, and report defects
- • Perform material loading/unloading, site cleanup, demolition support and paving assistance
- • Set up and maintain traffic control/flagging when required and enforce site safety procedures
- • Keep work area organized, attend toolbox talks and follow all site regulations
What we're looking for
- • Proven experience operating heavy equipment on construction or site work projects
- • Ability to read drawings, interpret grades and perform basic measurements
- • Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, diesel engine and general equipment maintenance
- • Familiarity with civil construction, paving, demolition and material handling
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to Houston-area job sites
- • Able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
Qualifications
- • Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred for dump truck or hauling roles
- • Forklift certification and flagger/traffic-control card preferred
- • OSHA 10 or 30-hour card preferred
- • Demonstrated experience operating dozers, excavators, loaders, graders, skid steers and backhoes
- • Ability to read construction drawings and perform basic site math
