Heavy Equipment Operator

About This Role

We are seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators in Houston, TX to work on civil and commercial construction, site work, paving, and demolition projects. You will run dozers, excavators, loaders, graders, skid steers and other earth-moving equipment safely and efficiently to meet project schedules. This is hands-on work on active job sites across the Houston area. Candidates must read and follow site plans, perform basic equipment inspections and maintenance, enforce safety procedures, and be comfortable with traffic control and site clean-up. What You'll Do

  • Operate excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, backhoes, graders and dump trucks for earthmoving, grading, paving, and material handling
  • Read and follow site plans, grade stakes, and instructions from supervisors to meet project specs
  • Perform daily equipment inspections, basic hydraulic and diesel engine checks, and routine maintenance
  • Set up and enforce traffic control/flagging and follow all site safety procedures
  • Assist with demolition, site clean-up, loading/unloading materials and coordinating with crew members

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years operating heavy equipment (dozer, excavator, loader, grader, skid steer, backhoe) on construction or civil projects
  • Able to read and interpret drawings, grade stakes, and basic site plans
  • Experience with heavy equipment hydraulic maintenance and diesel engine troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of construction methods & materials, paving equipment operation, and site preparation
  • Proven safety record: enforce procedures, perform flagging/traffic control, and follow OSHA guidance

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record; CDL Class A/B preferred
  • OSHA 10 (or OSHA 30 preferred) and flagger/traffic-control certification preferred
  • Forklift certification and/or NCCER or similar equipment operator credentials a plus
  • High school diploma or GED; ability to read plans and basic measurements
  • Basic English proficiency; Spanish language skills helpful
