Heavy Equipment Operator
About This Role
Experienced Heavy Equipment Operator needed in Austin, TX to run SkyTrak telehandlers and forklifts on active construction sites. You’ll move materials, support site crews, and keep work flowing by operating equipment safely and efficiently. This is hands-on work: load and unload materials, perform basic maintenance checks, and follow site plans and crew directions. Ideal candidate has solid telehandler and forklift experience, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to work outdoors in a fast-paced construction setting.
What You'll Do
- • Operate SkyTrak telehandlers and similar telehandlers to lift and place materials on site
- • Operate forklifts for loading, unloading, and moving materials around the site
- • Assist crew with rigging, spotting, and positioning loads safely
- • Perform daily pre-op inspections and basic preventive maintenance on equipment
- • Secure and transport materials, keeping load limits and site safety rules in mind
- • Follow site directions, maintain clear communication with crew, and report equipment issues
What We're Looking For
- • Proven experience operating SkyTrak/telehandlers and sit-down forklifts on construction sites
- • Skilled at loading/unloading materials and safe load handling
- • Basic heavy equipment maintenance knowledge (fluid checks, greasing, visual inspections)
- • Experience with loader and skid steer operation or willingness to cross-train
- • Ability to follow directions, read basic site plans, and work safely around crews
- • Reliable attendance, valid driver's license, and ability to pass background/drug screening
Qualifications
- • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain on hire)
- • Telehandler/SkyTrak experience; telehandler certification a plus
- • OSHA 10 or equivalent safety training preferred
- • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
- • English required; Spanish language skills a plus
