Heavy Equipment Operator — Nationwide Travel

Nationwide $23-$37/hr

About this role

Join a traveling crew running equipment on environmental and infrastructure projects across the U.S. This role is for experienced heavy equipment operators who take pride in their machines, work safely, and can adapt to changing site conditions. Assignments are rotational and company-supported—so you can travel and work with lodging, flights, and vehicle support provided. You’ll operate multiple pieces of equipment, perform excavation, grading, demolition, and site-support tasks, and work closely with site leadership and crews. The role includes daily equipment inspections, reporting maintenance or safety issues, and opportunities to advance into Lead Operator, Foreman, and Superintendent roles. Employment is subject to standard pre-employment requirements (background check, drug screen, driving-record review, and credential verification).

What you'll do

  • Operate excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, backhoes, and related heavy equipment safely and productively
  • Perform excavation, grading, material handling, demolition, and general site-support tasks per project plans
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections, complete reports, and communicate maintenance or safety issues to site leadership
  • Follow site-specific safety procedures, traffic-control plans, and quality requirements
  • Work directly with foremen, superintendents, laborers, and other operators to meet schedule and project goals
  • Travel to project sites on rotational schedules and support on-site logistics when required

What we're looking for

  • Proven heavy equipment operating experience on excavation, grading, and site-prep projects
  • Ability to operate multiple equipment types safely and efficiently in changing site conditions
  • Dependable attendance and ability to work rotation schedules away from home
  • Strong verbal and written communication with crew and site leadership
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; willingness to submit to driving-record review
  • Commitment to following safety procedures and reporting hazards or equipment issues immediately

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (required)
  • Willingness to pass background check and drug screening (pre-employment)
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 card preferred
  • Flagger certification and forklift certification preferred
  • Proven ability to read plans, perform site layout checks, and inspect equipment daily
  • Proficiency in English for clear verbal and written communication

What we offer

  • Daily per diem plus travel stipend to cover on-the-road expenses
  • Company-paid airfare, hotel, and rental car when applicable; paid rotation flight home
  • Paid mobilization time and company credit/gas card for approved work travel
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance options; 401(k) retirement plan
  • Paid time off and company-observed holidays
  • Clear paths for advancement into Lead Operator, Foreman, and Superintendent roles
