Heavy Equipment Operator (Travel/Rotational)

About this role

Experienced Heavy Equipment Operators needed for rotating environmental and infrastructure projects across the country. You’ll run excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, backhoes and related gear on short- and long-term projects while the company covers travel, lodging, and a strong per diem. This is a travel-heavy role for dependable operators who take pride in safe, efficient machine work and want steady, well-supported assignments. There are clear paths to advance into Lead Operator, Foreman, and Superintendent roles for operators who show skill and leadership.

What you'll do

• • Operate excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, backhoes and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently
• • Perform excavation, grading, material handling, demolition, and general site-support tasks to meet project plans
• • Conduct daily pre-start inspections, report defects or safety issues, and perform basic equipment care
• • Follow site-specific safety plans, traffic control procedures, and directions from foremen and superintendents
• • Work with crews on layout, grade checks, and completing scope items on schedule
• • Travel to job sites on rotation; complete mobilization and demobilization as required

What we're looking for

• • Proven experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment on construction or environmental sites
• • Strong situational awareness and commitment to following safety procedures
• • Ability to read basic site plans, perform grade work, and assist with site layout
• • Dependable attendance and willingness to work rotating travel schedules
• • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• • Able to perform physical work and lift equipment tools as needed

Qualifications

• • Minimum 2+ years operating heavy equipment (excavator, dozer, loader, skid steer, backhoe preferred)
• • OSHA 10-hour card (or willing to obtain); additional safety certifications a plus
• • Equipment operator certifications (NCCER or manufacturer/operator certs preferred)
• • CDL Class A or B preferred but not required (if driving company trucks assigned)
• • Able to pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, and driving-record review
• • English proficiency for safe communication on site; additional languages a plus
