Heavy Equipment Operator — Tunnel

About This Role

Experienced Heavy Equipment Operator needed for a tunnel project in Manchester, NH. Start pay $41.00/hr DOE. This is an hourly, hands-on role operating heavy and specialized underground equipment to support excavation, tunneling, and treatment systems. You’ll work in a confined underground environment and above ground when needed. Expect shift work, nights, weekends, and on-call response for tunnel emergencies. Strong safety focus, equipment upkeep, and clear team communication are required every day.

What You'll Do

• • Operate heavy and specialized equipment: CCO crane, loaders, backhoes, forklifts, skid steers, drill rigs, locomotives, TBM, and slurry/water treatment systems.
• • Monitor and control tunnel systems from the control room (ventilation, lighting, traffic) and respond to alarms or emergencies.
• • Perform daily inspections, routine upkeep, and basic maintenance to keep equipment safe and running.
• • Read and follow grade plans, apply safe rigging methods, and support excavation and construction tasks.
• • Attend daily safety briefings, maintain accurate equipment logs, and communicate with supervisors and crew members.

What We're Looking For

• • Minimum 3+ years operating heavy equipment; tunnel or underground experience preferred.
• • NCCCO/CCO crane operator experience for crane work and safe rigging knowledge.
• • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification required.
• • Able to read and follow grade plans and use hand signals/radios for crew communication.
• • Physically fit to work in confined/underground spaces and handle variable shifts, nights, and weekends.

Qualifications

• • NCCCO Crane certification (CCO) preferred
• • OSHA 30 or OSHA 10
• • High school diploma or equivalent
• • Minimum 3 years heavy equipment operation (tunnel experience preferred)
• • Valid driver’s license
• • Authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship available)
