Industrial Maintenance Mechanic — Liquid Asphalt Terminal Technician (Wakefield, VA)

About This Role

Join a hands-on team in Wakefield, VA as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic working as a Liquid Asphalt Terminal Technician. You’ll run and maintain pumps, valves, heaters, tanks and meters, unload asphalt railcars, take routine product samples, and keep accurate inventory and operational records. This is physically active, outdoor work around hot materials and heavy equipment. You’ll follow strict safety and environmental procedures, perform preventive maintenance and repairs, and help keep terminal operations running smoothly to meet customer schedules.

What You'll Do

• • Operate, monitor and maintain pumps, valves, heaters, tanks, meters and related terminal equipment
• • Unload and load asphalt railcars using established safety procedures; secure and document shipments
• • Collect routine product samples and perform basic quality tests to ensure product meets specs
• • Adjust temperature and heating systems to maintain required material temperatures
• • Maintain accurate inventory, shipment, receipt and operational records in inventory systems
• • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, site cleanup and enforce safety/environmental rules

What We're Looking For

• • High school diploma or GED
• • Mechanical aptitude with experience operating and troubleshooting pumps, valves, heaters or similar industrial equipment
• • Experience with loading/unloading railcars, material handling and basic product testing/sample collection
• • Able to work outdoors in varying weather, around hot materials, lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders and work at heights
• • Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory systems; clear verbal and written communication
• • Strong commitment to safety, attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures

Qualifications

• • High school diploma or GED required
• • Valid driver's license; reliable transportation to Wakefield, VA
• • Forklift/overhead crane certification preferred
• • Confined space entry and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) training preferred
• • HAZWOPER/HazMat awareness or OSHA 10 preferred
• • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
