Ironworker Lead Foreman
About this role
Lead and supervise structural steel erection crews on heavy commercial and industrial projects in Beaumont, TX. This senior field role is hands-on: you’ll plan daily work, direct crews and subcontractors, enforce safety, and ensure welding, bolting, and erection quality meet drawings and code. You will be the onsite point person for sequencing, crane and rigging activities, field troubleshooting, and client/inspection coordination. Candidates must have 15+ years’ structural steel erection experience and proven leadership in the field.
What you'll do
- • Supervise and direct structural steel erection crews and subcontractors; assign tasks, monitor productivity, and adjust manpower to meet schedules.
- • Coordinate daily activities, work sequencing, lift plans, rigging and crane operations with project management and rigging crews.
- • Enforce OSHA and site safety policies; run daily safety talks, perform jobsite inspections, and lead accident investigations and corrective actions.
- • Review and interpret blueprints, shop drawings and erection plans; resolve field discrepancies and document changes.
- • Oversee quality control for welding and bolting; inspect connections, verify tolerances, and maintain documentation of progress and nonconformances.
- • Communicate progress and issues with project managers, engineers, inspectors and clients; maintain daily reports and change documentation.
What we're looking for
- • 15+ years of structural steel erection experience with substantial supervisory/leadership time in the field.
- • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and civil/structural plans.
- • Thorough knowledge of OSHA construction standards, rigging and lift planning, welding and bolting standards, and site safety practices.
- • Proven leadership and team-management skills with clear verbal and written communication across crews and project stakeholders.
- • Experience with accident investigation/root cause analysis, site layout and inspection, and basic budget or billing oversight for field activities.
Qualifications
- • OSHA 30-hour Construction Card (required)
- • Qualified Rigger and Signal Person certification (or equivalent)
- • CWI or welding quality control experience OR documented welding QC training
- • NCCER certification, journeyman card, vocational/technical training, or equivalent field experience
- • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to regional project sites
- • English required; Spanish or other language skills are a plus
