CNC Router & Laser Operator / CAD-CAM Technician

Dallas, TX $23-$34/hr

About this role

We’re hiring a hands-on CNC Router & Laser Operator / CAD-CAM Technician in Dallas, TX to run and program CNC router and laser equipment for custom architectural panels, signage, templates, and sample work. This role combines machine operation, CAD/CAM file prep, first-article inspection, basic maintenance, and clear documentation of setups so jobs can be repeated consistently. You’ll work on a production shop floor with sample makers, finishing, and installation teams. The right candidate is an operator-plus: able to run machines reliably, clean and verify vectors and toolpaths (Vectric Aspire experience a big plus), catch file or setup problems before they become scrap, and keep digital job folders and setup notes organized. Open to candidates willing to relocate to Dallas, TX.

What you'll do

  • Set up and operate CNC router and laser equipment: install material, spoilboards, fixtures, clamps, tooling, bits/lenses, and establish machine origins and job parameters.
  • Prepare, clean, organize and verify CAD/CAM files and toolpaths (nesting, layers, cut order); generate and review G-code or machine-specific output; perform basic G-code edits when needed.
  • Run and inspect first articles: verify dimensions, edge and surface quality, engraving and cut accuracy using tape measure, calipers, squares, and templates; stop and troubleshoot before full production.
  • Monitor running jobs and respond to tooling, hold-down, alignment, dust, burning, tear-out, or machine-performance issues; perform basic machine maintenance and cleaning.
  • Maintain organized digital job folders, setup notes, toolpath records, and repeatable work instructions; support panelization of oversized pieces into manufacturable sections.
  • Follow shop safety, PPE, dust-collection, laser safety, and lockout/tagout procedures; report maintenance needs and unsafe conditions to production leadership.

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 2–4 years operating CNC router equipment in production, woodworking, millwork, signage, or related fabrication environment.
  • Working knowledge of CAD/CAM workflows, toolpaths, nesting, origins, feeds & speeds, kerf/focal height, and basic G-code interpretation/editing; experience as a CNC programmer or using Vectric Aspire preferred.
  • Experience operating or supporting laser cutting/engraving equipment and setting laser parameters for different materials.
  • Strong ability to read and follow production drawings, shop drawings, cut sheets, templates, and written job instructions.
  • Hands-on inspection and measurement skills using calipers, tape measures, squares and templates; disciplined digital file management and documentation.
  • Clear verbal and written communication to coordinate issues with production leadership and downstream teams; reliable shop-floor work habits.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience with Vectric Aspire; familiarity with VCarve, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, Rhino, Illustrator, LightBurn or RDWorks a plus
  • Ability to read technical drawings, blueprints, and production cut sheets
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Forklift certification and OSHA 10 preferred but not required
  • Able to lift and handle materials up to 50 lbs and work on your feet in a shop environment

What we offer

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance options (available after hire)
  • Paid time off and holiday pay policies
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match options
  • Training and development in CAD/CAM workflows and machine operation (Vectric Aspire, VCarve, Fusion 360)
  • Relocation assistance considered for qualified candidates
  • Stable shop environment with regular schedules and opportunity for overtime when needed
