Mason — Brick & Concrete Worker (Per Diem)

About This Role

Seeking experienced brick masons and concrete workers for per diem assignments across Jacksonville, FL. You’ll work on a variety of commercial and civil projects performing bricklaying, concrete placement, formwork, finishing, paving and repairs. Work is local to Jacksonville with frequent short-term assignments. This is hands-on work — quality, safety and efficiency matter. You’ll read civil drawings, set layouts, pour and finish concrete, install reinforcement and work with scaffolding and rigging. Competitive per diem pay based on experience, weekly pay options, and steady local projects.

What You'll Do

  • Read civil and job drawings; set site layout and elevations for masonry and concrete work
  • Perform bricklaying, stone masonry and general masonry tasks with accurate joints and alignment
  • Build and strip concrete formwork, place reinforcement, pour, finish and cure concrete
  • Operate and rig scaffolding systems (frame & brace, system scaffolding) and follow safe access procedures
  • Perform concrete repair, paving (concrete & asphalt), demolition and refractory/gunite mixing as required
  • Inspect finished work, coordinate with crew members, and maintain clean, safe job sites

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in bricklaying, general masonry and concrete placement/finishing
  • Skilled in formwork carpentry, concrete reinforcing and concrete curing/protection
  • Able to read/interprets drawings and develop work schedules; perform work inspection and T&M tracking
  • Experience with scaffolding systems, rigging, and safe demolition practices
  • Comfortable working in extreme heat/cold conditions and following strict safety protocols
  • Ability to train crew members, manage onsite tasks and communicate clearly with foremen

Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 (minimum) — OSHA 30 preferred
  • NCCER certification, journeyman-level masonry or equivalent trade experience
  • Scaffold and rigging certifications (or proven experience)
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; clean driving record preferred
  • Ability to pass drug test and background check
  • Experience with refractory and gunite mixing a plus
  • Physically able to lift heavy materials and work outdoors in extreme conditions
