Mitigation Tech (Environmental Remediation)

Nationwide

About this role

Hands-on field role for an experienced Mitigation Tech performing hazardous-material cleanup, tank and pipe cleaning, demolition support, and site remediation at environmental, construction, and demolition sites nationwide. This is field-first work — you'll be on job sites operating equipment, following strict safety protocols, and supporting containment and cleanup tasks. Work involves frequent travel (up to 50%), physical outdoor tasks in varied weather, and steady interaction with site supervisors and crews. Candidates must have proven hazmat/HAZWOPER experience, equipment operation skills, and a dependable safety-first mindset.

What you'll do

  • Perform environmental remediation, hazardous-material cleanup, and spill-response tasks on active job sites.
  • Conduct tank/UST and pipe cleaning, assist with excavation support, demolition, dust control, and site cleanup.
  • Operate water trucks, skid steers, compactors, sweepers, vacuum units, and pickup trucks safely and according to site rules.
  • Follow PPE, decontamination, confined-space entry, air-monitoring, and waste-handling procedures at all times.
  • Inspect, clean, and perform basic maintenance on field equipment and tools; report defects and safety issues.
  • Travel to project sites as required and assist with setup, demobilization, and documentation of field activities.

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience in environmental remediation, hazardous-material cleanup, tank cleaning, or industrial cleaning.
  • Hands-on experience operating jobsite equipment (skid steer, water truck, compactor, sweeper, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of hazardous-material safety procedures and proper use of PPE and decontamination practices.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and willingness to travel up to 50% for projects.
  • Ability to perform physical outdoor work in varying weather; lift, carry, and handle equipment and materials safely.
  • Dependable attendance, punctuality, and ability to follow directions and site-specific safety plans.

Qualifications

  • HAZWOPER 40-hour certification (current) or willingness to obtain.
  • CDL (A, B, or C) preferred or ability to obtain depending on role requirements.
  • Confined-space entry training and rescue awareness (preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to pass background and drug screening.
  • English required; Spanish or other language skills a plus for crew communication.

What we offer

  • Site-specific safety training and paid training opportunities (HAZWOPER/Confined Space refreshers).
  • Travel per diem or expense reimbursement when on multi-day assignments.
  • Health, dental, and vision options (where offered) and retirement plan access.
  • Overtime opportunities and steady work on multi-week field projects.
  • Company-provided PPE, tools, and on-site safety equipment.
