- • Plan and execute coating schedules that integrate with fabrication and shipping workflows; manage booth/fixture utilization and cure times to hit delivery dates.
- • Oversee surface preparation (abrasive blasting, power tool cleaning), coating application (airless and plural-component spray, brush/roller where required), internal pipe coatings and curing processes.
- • Ensure compliance with NACE/SSPC specs, OSHA/EPA rules, VOC and hazardous-waste requirements, and confined-space procedures; maintain accurate safety and environmental records.
- • Lead inspection and testing for surface profile, DFT, adhesion and holiday detection; run root-cause analysis and corrective actions for defects and rework.
- • Manage training, certifications, material inventory, batch traceability and departmental performance metrics; drive continuous improvement to reduce waste and improve first-pass yield.
What we're looking for
- • 7+ years hands-on industrial coatings experience on pipe, structural steel or fabricated assemblies for energy/industrial projects.
- • Minimum 5 years in a supervisory or lead role managing coating crews in a production environment.
- • Proven knowledge of abrasive blasting, power tool cleaning, plural-component spray systems, internal pipe coating and curing practices.
- • Able to read and follow fabrication drawings, coating specifications (ITPs/MPS) and inspection acceptance criteria.
- • Practical experience with defect troubleshooting (blistering, adhesion failure, runs, orange peel) and performing root-cause analysis.
- • Strong leadership, communication and scheduling skills; able to coordinate with Fabrication, QC, Maintenance and Project teams.
Qualifications
- • High school diploma or equivalent; technical/coatings training preferred
- • Active OSHA 30 certification (required)
- • Active NACE/AMPP or SSPC coatings inspector certification (CIP Level 1 or higher preferred)
- • Ability to read fabrication drawings and coating specifications
- • Bilingual: English and Spanish (required)
What we offer
- • Medical, dental and vision options available
- • Paid time off and paid holidays
- • Paid training and certification support (NACE/SSPC/other site training)
- • Overtime opportunities and predictable shift schedules
- • PPE and job-required safety equipment provided
