Painter / Paperhanger — Marine Blaster/Painter
About this role
This is a hands-on marine blasting and painting position based in the Houma, LA area. You will work on-site preparing and coating marine structures and equipment, performing both interior and exterior painting, sealing, and surface preparation. Work is Monday–Friday on a day shift. Candidates must already live within 50 miles of Houma — no per diem is offered. We are looking for reliable, experienced coating technicians who can follow safety procedures, handle abrasive blasting operations, and apply marine-grade coatings to meet project specifications.
What you'll do
- • Perform abrasive blasting and surface preparation on marine structures and equipment
- • Mix, apply and finish paints, primers, sealants and waterproofing materials (interior and exterior)
- • Masking, pressure washing, sanding, and inspection to ensure proper coating adhesion
- • Operate and maintain blasting and painting tools and equipment; clean and store tools after use
- • Follow site safety procedures and use required PPE while working around blasting operations
- • Document work completed and report any surface or coating issues to supervisor
What we're looking for
- • Proven experience with marine blasting and painting or similar industrial/coatings work
- • Skilled in surface preparation, waterproofing/sealing, and application of coatings
- • Able to work Monday–Friday, 6:30 am–5:00 pm (full day shift)
- • Must already live within 50 miles of Houma, LA — local candidates only
- • Comfortable working around abrasive media and wearing required PPE for extended periods
- • Reliable transportation to and from the job site
Qualifications
- • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- • Experience with interior and exterior painting and surface prep
- • Familiarity with coatings, primers, and sealants used in marine environments
- • Ability to read work orders and follow written and verbal instructions
- • Coatings/abrasive blasting certifications (NACE, SSPC, or similar) are a plus
- • Spanish or other language skills helpful but not required
