Marine Painter / Paperhanger
About this role
We’re hiring a hands-on marine painter/paperhanger in the Houma, LA area to perform blasting, surface preparation, and coating work on marine projects. This role focuses on quality surface prep and applying protective coatings in interior and exterior marine environments. This is a Monday–Friday day-shift position (6:30 am–5:00 pm). Candidates must already live within 50 miles of Houma, LA. No per diem is available — local candidates only. What you'll do
- • Perform marine surface preparation including abrasive blasting, grinding, and hand-tooling to meet specifications
- • Apply interior and exterior coatings, sealants, and waterproofing systems per job instructions
- • Mask, tape, and protect adjacent surfaces; set up containment and proper ventilation where needed
- • Inspect finished work for coverage, adhesion, and appearance; touch up and correct defects
- • Maintain and clean blasting and painting equipment; report and log materials and work completed
What we're looking for
- • Proven experience with marine blasting and painting on commercial or industrial projects
- • Skilled in surface preparation, paint application, waterproofing, and sealing techniques
- • Able to follow technical work orders, coating specifications, and mixing instructions
- • Available to work Monday–Friday, 6:30 am–5:00 pm, and able to commute from within 50 miles of Houma, LA
- • Able to work safely around blasting equipment, coatings, and in confined or elevated spaces
Qualifications
- • Proof of residence within 50 miles of Houma, LA required
- • Trade experience in marine coating application and surface prep; references preferred
- • Ability to read work orders, measure, and follow safety procedures
- • Relevant coating or surface-prep certifications (e.g., applicator or blasting certificates) are a plus
