Per Diem

Pipefitter — Per Diem (Nationwide)

Nationwide

About This Role

Experienced Pipefitter needed for per diem assignments on industrial HDPE and other pipeline systems across the U.S. Work will include new installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on above- and below-ground piping in varied environments — plants, refineries, maritime and excavation sites. This is a travel-heavy position: assignments are nationwide, often short- to mid-term. Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors, in confined spaces, and on job sites that require strict adherence to safety protocols. Immediate openings for qualified pipefitters with robust welding and mechanical skills.

What You'll Do

  • Install, align and join HDPE, steel and cast-iron pipeline systems per drawings and job specs
  • Perform routine and emergency pipeline maintenance, leak repair, gasket cutting/fitting and mechanical seal installation
  • Execute welding and cutting tasks (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, oxyfuel, plasma, air carbon arc) and perform weld inspections as required
  • Conduct pipe testing, pressure tests and document results; isolate and repair faulty pipe runs
  • Rigging, pump installation/maintenance, excavation/trench work and safe handling of materials on site
  • Read and interpret piping & mechanical blueprints, follow work orders and coordinate with foremen and other trades

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 3+ years hands-on pipefitting experience on industrial pipeline projects (HDPE experience preferred)
  • Proven welding experience with at least two processes (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW) and ability to perform general welding and cutting tasks
  • Skilled in gasket cutting/fitting, mechanical seal and pump installation/maintenance, plus pipe testing procedures
  • Comfortable with excavation/trench work, underground pipefitting and maritime or confined-space environments as needed
  • Ability to read piping/mechanical blueprints and follow site safety protocols; reliable travel availability for nationwide assignments
  • Physical fitness for lifting, climbing, working in PPE, and passing drug screening and background checks

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; passport preferred for maritime/deployment travel
  • AWS welding certifications or equivalent experience in SMAW/GMAW/GTAW preferred
  • OSHA 10 or 30, confined space entry, and CPR/First Aid certifications preferred
  • TWIC card for maritime jobs where required; H2S and respirator fit-test certifications a plus
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Strong communication in English and ability to follow written and verbal instructions

What We Offer

  • Daily per diem stipend and competitive daily rate (details depend on assignment)
  • Travel pay and reimbursement for mileage or arranged transportation; lodging provided or per diem covered on multi-day assignments
  • Overtime pay at applicable rates for hours beyond standard shift
  • Tools allowance or reimbursement for specialty tools on multi-week assignments
  • Safety gear provided on site and access to job-site orientation and safety briefings
