Instrument Fitter (Pipefitter)
About This Role
Skilled Instrument Fitter (Pipefitter) needed for nationwide industrial and power projects. You will plan, lay out, install, test and maintain instrumentation piping, tubing, supports, and process instruments to control and measure pressure, flow, temperature and other variables. Work is often outdoors, at heights, in confined spaces and on varying schedules. This is a hands-on role for a trained fitter who can read drawings, fabricate and install conduit/tubing, perform calibration and troubleshooting, and follow safety procedures. Expect travel to sites, overtime as needed, and work on both new installs and maintenance/repair jobs.
What You'll Do
- • Select, measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install pipe, tubing and conduit per drawings and specs
- • Install, repair, maintain and adjust indicating, recording and control instruments and associated test equipment
- • Calibrate instruments and test equipment; inspect and adjust calibration to ensure accuracy and proper operation
- • Fabricate and install supports, clamps and tubing assemblies; move and set up materials and tools at job sites
- • Troubleshoot instrument and piping system issues, disassemble/replace defective parts, reassemble and test for conformance
- • Work safely at heights and in confined spaces, follow lockout/tagout and project safety procedures
What We're Looking For
- • Proven experience in instrumentation piping/tubing installation, calibration and troubleshooting (skilled level)
- • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and piping isometrics
- • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, layout tools and instrument test equipment
- • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces and outdoors in varied weather; able to work overtime and travel
- • Owns required hand tools and has reliable transportation for travel to job sites
Qualifications
- • High school diploma or GED preferred; completed trade school or apprenticeship is a plus
- • 3+ years of instrument fitting/pipefitting or related instrumentation experience
- • Valid driver's license; willingness to travel and work away from home
- • OSHA 10 (or OSHA 30 preferred), Confined Space Entry and Fall Protection certifications preferred
- • Ability to pass site background checks, drug screen and meet physical work demands
- • Proficient in blueprint/technical drawing interpretation and basic electrical/instrument circuitry
