Pipelayer Foreman

About This Role

Lead the installation of underground utility pipes as the Pipelayer Foreman based in Richmond, VA. You’ll oversee pipe technicians, set grade stakes, verify elevations, and ensure pipe alignment and connections meet project specs. Work is hands-on: trench entry, shoring checks, pipe fit-up and testing are part of the daily routine. This is a per diem position open to workers willing to relocate. You’ll be the field lead who enforces safe excavation and trench procedures, interprets construction plans, and keeps work moving to schedule while protecting the long-term integrity of the utility system.

What You'll Do

• • Direct and supervise pipe installation crews; assign tasks and monitor productivity on site
• • Read plans, set grade stakes, verify pipe elevations and ensure precise alignment and grade control
• • Ensure proper shoring, trench stabilization, excavation procedures and trench safety for crew
• • Perform and oversee pipe fitting, connection techniques and joint integrity checks for various materials
• • Inspect installed work, document progress, enforce project specs and report any deviations

What We're Looking For

• • Proven experience leading underground pipe installation crews and supervising field crews
• • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, set layout, and verify measurements
• • Hands-on experience with plastic and steel pipe installation, bedding, and pipe testing
• • Knowledge of trench shoring, excavation safety, and applicable building codes and regulations
• • Strong verbal and written communication; able to coordinate with crews, inspectors and contractors

Qualifications

• • OSHA 10 or 30-hour construction safety card (preferred)
• • Trench/shoring competent person training or equivalent experience
• • Confined space entry and rescue training (preferred)
• • First Aid / CPR certification
• • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• • Ability to read construction drawings and communicate clearly in English
