About This Role

Join the campus maintenance team as a Plumber II responsible for skilled installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing, irrigation and gas systems across campus. You’ll troubleshoot issues, perform preventive maintenance and keep accurate work records to keep buildings and grounds operating reliably. This is a hands-on role with a Sunday–Thursday schedule (6:00am–2:30pm). You must be available for additional hours during emergencies and are designated essential personnel for snow removal and grounds clearing.

What You'll Do

  • Install, maintain and repair plumbing piping, fixtures, valves, meters, irrigation components and gas lines on campus buildings and grounds
  • Troubleshoot system failures—locate leaks, clear blockages, diagnose pressure problems and repair components to restore service
  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on plumbing, irrigation and gas systems to reduce downtime
  • Follow work orders and blueprints; measure, cut, thread and fit pipe; solder, braze and assemble fittings as needed
  • Document work performed and system status in the work order/CMMS; report parts and material needs
  • Respond to emergency calls and overtime assignments; report for snow removal and assist with clearing pathways and grounds as essential personnel

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 3 years hands-on plumbing experience in commercial, institutional or large residential settings
  • Strong system troubleshooting and general pipefitting skills (soldering, threading, joining and valve work)
  • Ability to follow and enforce safety procedures, use PPE, and work in confined spaces and variable weather
  • Physically able to lift, carry and move tools/materials (regularly up to 50 lbs), climb ladders and work on roofs or in trenches
  • Available for Sunday–Thursday 6:00am–2:30pm schedule, additional hours for emergencies, and essential personnel duties
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel across campus

Qualifications

  • State journeyman plumber license or equivalent credential preferred
  • Backflow prevention tester certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
  • OSHA 10-hour construction safety training or equivalent preferred
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
