Assistant Project Manager
About This Role
Assistant Project Managers support the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects under the direction of a Project Manager. You’ll work between the field and office to keep schedules, costs, paperwork, and trades on track. Day-to-day you’ll help create and update schedules and budgets, manage RFIs/submittals/change orders, track materials and subcontractors, enforce quality and safety on site, and report progress to project leadership. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows drawings, can manage details, and wants steady field and office work.
What You'll Do
- • Assist with project scheduling, update gantt/phase schedules, and monitor milestones to keep jobs on track
- • Track budgets and job costs, prepare cost reports, and flag variances to project leadership
- • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and material deliveries; confirm scopes and timelines
- • Manage project documentation: RFIs, submittals, change orders, permits, and meeting minutes
- • Perform site inspections for quality control and ensure safety compliance with site teams
- • Communicate daily progress, issues, and action items to PMs, superintendents, and stakeholders
What We're Looking For
- • 2+ years construction project experience or assistant PM experience on commercial or residential jobs
- • Proficient in reading and interpreting drawings, blueprints, and civil plans
- • Strong math and analytical skills for cost tracking, estimates, and job cost reports
- • Experience with Procore and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); comfortable with Teams/Zoom/Slack
- • Solid communication and leadership skills — able to coordinate crews, vendors, and clients
- • Working knowledge of building codes, permit/inspection processes, and quality control procedures
Qualifications
- • OSHA 10 (required) — OSHA 30 preferred
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; ability to travel to job sites
- • Procore experience; Procore certification is a plus
- • Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
- • Able to pass background check and drug screen
- • Spanish language skills a plus but not required
