Assistant Project Manager

TX $79k-$132k/yr

About this role

Join a construction team as an Assistant Project Manager supporting commercial and residential builds across Texas. You’ll split time between the office and job site, helping keep projects on schedule, on budget, and compliant with specs and codes. You’ll assist the Project Manager with scheduling, cost tracking, subcontractor coordination, and document control. Expect hands-on work with RFIs, submittals, change orders, site inspections, and clear communication between field crews and project leadership.

What you'll do

  • Assist with project schedules, budget tracking, and job-cost reports; flag delays and cost variances to the Project Manager
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and material deliveries; confirm scopes, arrival times, and on-site staging
  • Maintain project documentation: RFIs, submittals, change orders, permits, inspection records, and closeout files
  • Support on-site quality control, inspections, and safety compliance; enforce site rules and report non-compliance
  • Communicate daily progress, risks, and issues to project leadership, clients, and field teams
  • Track supplies and inventory; assist with procurement and logistics to avoid material shortfalls

What we're looking for

  • 2+ years construction experience with exposure to commercial or residential projects
  • Proficient reading and interpreting technical drawings, civil plans, and blueprints
  • Strong verbal and written communication; able to coordinate crews and report to clients and leadership
  • Working knowledge of building codes, permit processes, and inspection coordination
  • Comfortable using construction management software (Procore preferred) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Basic cost-estimating, math, and analytical skills for budget tracking and claims documentation

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; construction-related degree or coursework a plus
  • OSHA 10 (or higher) preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site travel
  • Procore or other construction management software experience
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

What we offer

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance options
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match
  • Paid training and certification support (site safety and technical classes)
  • Mileage reimbursement or travel stipend for field visits
  • Opportunities for overtime and career advancement into Project Manager roles
