Project Manager — Traveling (West Texas Data Centers)
About this role
Traveling construction Project Manager based in Austin, TX needed to lead data center builds across West Texas. This is field-first work: you’ll be on-site regularly to coordinate crews, manage subcontractors, control costs, and keep mission-critical systems on schedule. Per diem is provided for travel assignments. Ideal candidate is a hands-on PM with solid civil/commercial construction experience and comfort working in mission-critical environments. You must be organized, decisive, and able to communicate clearly with clients, contractors, and field teams while managing safety and quality on fast-moving jobs.
What you'll do
- • Lead and coordinate day-to-day data center construction activities on site in West Texas
- • Manage project schedule, update critical path, and drive on-time milestones
- • Oversee subcontractors and vendors; enforce scope, quality, and safety standards
- • Monitor job costs, review invoices, manage billing and time-and-material reporting
- • Maintain project documentation: daily reports, RFI logs, change orders, and closeout files
- • Communicate regularly with clients and stakeholders to manage expectations and resolve issues
What we're looking for
- • 5+ years managing commercial or industrial construction projects; data center or mission-critical experience preferred
- • Proven track record managing schedule, budget, subcontractors, and quality control
- • Strong verbal and written communication with clients, superintendents, and trades
- • Working knowledge of building codes, regulatory compliance, and safety practices
- • Experience with claims management, change orders, cost estimation, and job cost reporting
- • Comfortable with regular travel and multi-site coordination; able to stay on-site as required
Qualifications
- • Valid driver's license and ability to travel frequently
- • OSHA 30 or equivalent safety training preferred
- • PMP, CCM, or similar construction management certification a plus
- • Proficiency with construction management software (Procore, CMiC, MS Project or similar)
- • Ability to pass background check and drug screen
- • Experience with civil construction, commercial construction, and subcontractor oversight
