QA / QC Manager
About This Role
Join our Jessup, MD team as a hands-on QA/QC Manager running daily lab testing for asphalt, concrete, and quarry products. You’ll run and document quality control tests, develop and maintain mix designs, and work directly with plant operators and government agency reps to keep product quality on spec. This is a practical, field-focused role paying $23.00–$30.00/hr DOE. You’ll follow established lab protocols, analyze technical data from sales and technical reps, and support production to meet federal, state and local construction specifications.
What You'll Do
- • Perform daily QC tests on asphalt, concrete, and quarry products; record and report results to plant operations.
- • Develop, update and enforce quality control procedures and asphalt/concrete mix designs per project specs.
- • Coordinate testing and quality documentation with federal, state and local agency representatives on projects.
- • Run lab experiments using established AASHTO/ASTM scientific protocols and maintain accurate lab records.
- • Work with asphalt, concrete and quarry plant control rooms to implement required mix changes requested by customers.
- • Receive and analyze technical data from sales and technical representatives and translate into production guidance.
What We're Looking For
- • 1–2 years minimum lab/QC experience in asphalt, concrete or aggregate operations (3–5 years preferred).
- • Strong math and analytical skills; comfortable with lab test calculations and data review.
- • Hands-on knowledge of AASHTO/ASTM test procedures and lab safety protocols.
- • Familiarity with environmental and construction regulations (Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, NEPA) and how they affect material quality.
- • Ability to read mix specs, follow inspection and test plans (ITPs), and communicate clearly with plant staff and agency reps.
- • Able to lift up to 50 lbs, work on feet for extended periods, and travel between plant and job sites as needed.
Qualifications
- • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering or equivalent work experience in a related technical field.
- • AASHTO/ASTM laboratory testing certifications preferred.
- • QA/QC Asphalt or Concrete testing certification preferred.
- • OSHA 10-hour (or higher) preferred; valid driver’s license required.
- • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- • English fluency required; Spanish a plus.
