NCCER Rigger Journeyman
About This Role
Seeking a certified NCCER Rigger Journeyman to perform hands-on rigging work on construction and industrial projects across KY. You’ll handle rigging gear, follow lift plans, and work closely with crane operators and crew to move, set, and secure loads safely. This role requires solid rigging technique, strict adherence to safety and NCCER standards, and the ability to inspect and maintain rigging equipment. Ideal candidates are experienced, safety-focused, and ready to work in varied field conditions.
What You'll Do
- • Set up, inspect, and operate rigging equipment (slings, shackles, wire rope, spreader bars) following NCCER standards
- • Calculate loads, read lift plans and load charts, and select appropriate rigging hardware
- • Signal and coordinate lifts with crane operators and crew; follow lift procedures and tagging requirements
- • Inspect, maintain, and log rigging gear; tag out and remove damaged equipment from service
- • Secure loads for transport and positioning; assist in load placement and final rigging adjustments
- • Maintain a clean, safe work area and comply with site safety protocols and permit requirements
What We're Looking For
- • Proven hands-on rigging experience (preferably 3+ years) on construction or industrial sites
- • Strong knowledge of rigging techniques, load calculations, and safe sling/hardware selection
- • Comfort working at heights, in confined spaces, and in all weather conditions
- • Ability to read and follow lift plans, load charts, and jobsite instructions
- • Safety-focused with experience following NCCER standards and site-specific safety rules
- • Required certifications: NCCCO Rigger and NCCER (or equivalent)
Qualifications
- • NCCER Rigger Journeyman certification
- • NCCCO Rigger certification
- • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred
- • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; clean driving record preferred
- • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
- • Proficient English for reading lift plans and safety documentation
