Site Safety Supervisor
About This Role
Join as a Site Safety Supervisor in Roanoke, VA to lead safety on heavy civil construction projects. You’ll run site inspections, enforce OSHA 1926 requirements, lead daily toolbox talks and training, and work with project teams and clients to prevent incidents. This is a hands-on field role that requires 5+ years in construction safety, strong reporting and investigation skills, and the ability to build a safety-first culture on the jobsite. Occasional nights or weekends may be required depending on project needs.
What You'll Do
- • Perform regular site walks and safety inspections; identify hazards and enforce corrective actions
- • Lead daily safety meetings, new-hire orientations, and on-the-job safety training
- • Develop and maintain site-specific safety plans, pre-task JHAs, and other safety documentation
- • Investigate incidents and near-misses, prepare accurate reports, and recommend corrective measures
- • Ensure compliance with OSHA 1926 and other federal/state safety regulations; coordinate with clients and Safety Director
- • Coach field crews and supervisors on safe work methods and enforce PPE, fall protection, and excavation controls
What We're Looking For
- • Minimum 5 years construction safety experience, including heavy civil projects
- • Working knowledge of OSHA 1926, trenching/excavation, confined space, and fall protection standards
- • Proven experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis
- • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to prepare clear reports and safety documentation
- • Comfortable delivering hands-on training and leading toolbox talks; able to work with project staff and clients
- • Valid state driver’s license and reliable transportation to jobsite
Qualifications
- • OSHA 510 (required); OSHA 500/502 preferred
- • OSHA 30 card and First Aid/CPR certification
- • Competent/trainer credentials for Fall Protection, Excavation & Trenching (preferred)
- • Experience with Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and developing site-specific safety plans
- • Valid driver’s license
