Safety Officer
About this role
Join a growing construction team as a field-based Safety Officer in Raleigh, NC. You’ll be on site daily, leading inspections, Jobsite Safety Analyses, training, and incident investigations across electrical and general construction projects. This role is hands-on and requires a visible presence to reinforce PPE use and safe work practices. You’ll work directly with project managers, superintendents, foremen and field crews to identify hazards, implement corrective actions, and help build a strong safety culture. Expect regular travel between sites, physical site inspections, and opportunities to deliver training and mentoring to crews and new hires.
What you'll do
- • Conduct daily jobsite safety inspections, audits and Jobsite Safety Analyses (JSAs); document findings and follow up on corrective actions
- • Deliver safety training, new-hire orientations and on-the-spot mentoring to field crews and subcontractors
- • Investigate incidents and near-misses, prepare detailed reports, and recommend corrective/preventive actions
- • Verify PPE compliance, inspect tools/equipment and ensure scaffolding and access are set up correctly before work begins
- • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents and foremen to resolve safety issues and enforce site-specific safety plans
- • Assist with preparation and administration of site safety documentation, hazard assessments and periodic safety audits
What we're looking for
- • Minimum OSHA 10 certification required; OSHA 30 preferred
- • Practical knowledge of electrical work and general construction activities and equipment
- • Able to perform frequent site patrols, access heights via ladders/scaffolding and lift up to 50 lbs
- • Strong written and verbal communication; able to write clear incident reports and lead toolbox talks
- • Comfortable using basic computer tools (Word, Excel, email) and preparing safety paperwork
- • Flexible schedule, able to travel between sites and work outside normal business hours when needed
Qualifications
- • OSHA 10 (required); OSHA 30 preferred
- • First Aid/CPR certification preferred
- • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- • Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- • Fluent in English (reading and writing) for reports and training
