Safety Officer

Raleigh, NC $78k-$111k/yr

About this role

Hands-on Safety Officer needed in Raleigh, NC to lead and support jobsite safety across electrical and general construction projects. This is a field-first role — you’ll be on site daily conducting inspections, training crews, investigating incidents, and making sure OSHA rules and company safety standards are followed. If you’re practical, observant, and good at coaching field crews, you’ll work with project managers, superintendents, and trade partners to reduce risk, correct hazards, and build a stronger safety culture on every job.

What you'll do

  • Perform daily jobsite safety inspections, audits and Jobsite Safety Analyses (JSAs); identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Deliver safety trainings, new-hire orientations, toolbox talks and on-the-job mentoring to field crews and subcontractors.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses, prepare detailed reports, document root causes and recommend corrective/preventative actions.
  • Enforce PPE use, fall protection, lockout/tagout and other site-specific safety requirements; stop unsafe work when necessary.
  • Assist project teams in developing and implementing site-specific safety plans, task plans, and safety initiatives.

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 2–4 years field safety experience on construction sites (electrical experience a plus).
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction standards and site hazard controls.
  • Proven ability to conduct inspections, lead JSAs, and deliver practical on-site training.
  • Good written and verbal communication — able to write clear reports and work directly with crews and management.
  • Able to climb ladders/scaffolding, walk job sites for full shifts and lift up to 50 lbs as required.

Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Able to pass drug screening and background check
  • Proficiency with basic computer tools (Word, Excel, Outlook) and safety reporting

What we offer

  • Competitive wages with weekly pay schedule
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • 401(k) retirement plan and life insurance
  • Short-term disability coverage
  • Paid safety and career development training
