Sheet Metal Worker — Exterior Skin General Foreman
About this role
Lead from the wall as a hands-on exterior skin General Foreman based in Fort Lauderdale, FL. You’ll run open-shop crews installing insulated metal panels, rainscreen systems, sheet metal flashing/trim, architectural louvers, and expansion joints on multi-month projects across the Southeast. You’ll own field production, safety, quality, planning, and crew development while coordinating daily with superintendents, project managers, engineers, and other trades. Strong performers will be developed and promoted into an Exterior Skin Superintendent role.
What you'll do
- • Lead and develop exterior skin crews while working hands-on installing insulated metal panels (IMP), ACM/MCM, single-skin panels, flashing/trim, louvers, and expansion joints.
- • Plan and sequence manpower, materials, equipment, lifts/scaffolds, and site logistics across regional projects; track production and schedule risks.
- • Read and interpret architectural, shop, and envelope drawings; own layout, installation quality, punch lists, and closeout details.
- • Drive jobsite safety through pre-task planning, JHAs, daily huddles, fall protection oversight, rigging checks, and scaffold/lift safety.
- • Coordinate daily with superintendents, PMs, engineers, general contractors, and other trades to resolve issues before they reach the wall.
- • Recruit, train, mentor, and retain open-shop exterior skin crew members; build and maintain crew skill depth and field leadership.
What we're looking for
- • 5+ years hands-on exterior skin experience with metal panel systems required (IMP, ACM/MCM, single-skin).
- • 3+ years as a Lead Installer, Foreman, or General Foreman directing field crews.
- • Proven ability to install vertical and horizontal IMP, rainscreen systems, flashing/trim, louvers, and expansion joints.
- • Able to read and interpret architectural, shop, and envelope drawings and lead accurate field layout and installation.
- • Strong planning, production tracking, communication, and problem-solving skills; willing to work alongside crew in the field.
- • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly across the Southeast for multi-month project assignments.
Qualifications
- • OSHA 30 (or ability to obtain)
- • CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
- • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel across the Southeast; ability to work multi-month assignments away from home
- • Preferred: bilingual English/Spanish
- • Preferred: experience on data center, healthcare, higher education, or life sciences projects
- • Preferred: rigging, fall protection, scaffold/lift qualifications and experience
- • Familiarity with digital field technology for production tracking and coordination
