Solar Installer / Technician Foreman

Tampa, FL

About This Role

Lead a small crew installing and maintaining commercial and industrial solar PV systems across Tampa and Central Florida. This is a hands-on foreman role — you’ll be on roofs and job sites doing racking, roof penetrations, sealing, concrete work and troubleshooting while directing a general laborer crew and coordinating with electricians. You’ll run daily site logistics, manage loading/unloading, read structural drawings, enforce safety and quality standards, and travel to regional projects as needed. We want a practical leader who knows PV installs and concrete work, can solve problems in the field, and keeps crews productive and safe.

What You'll Do

  • Install and assemble rooftop racking and PV systems: layout, mounting, roof penetrations, anchoring, sealing and welding per manufacturer specs
  • Perform general concrete scopes: foundations, bollards, flatwork, trenching and basic formwork/pours
  • Manage daily site logistics: loading/unloading materials, equipment staging, site cleanliness and tool inventory
  • Direct and supervise a general laborer crew: assign tasks, train on safe procedures, monitor productivity and quality
  • Read and interpret structural drawings and technical documentation; coordinate with electrical crews and subcontractors on-site
  • Conduct routine inspections, troubleshoot PV/electrical components, perform repairs and ensure code and safety compliance

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 5 years hands-on solar/PV installation experience (commercial/industrial required)
  • 10+ years construction experience on commercial/industrial projects preferred
  • OSHA 10 required (OSHA 30 preferred); strong safety focus and experience enforcing jobsite safety
  • Ability to read blueprints, structural drawings and electrical schematics; experienced with electrical troubleshooting
  • Own basic hand and power tools and reliable transportation; able to lift heavy loads and work at heights
  • Willingness to travel regionally across Central Florida and occasional travel to other US locations

Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 (required); OSHA 30 (preferred)
  • 5+ years solar/PV commercial installation experience
  • NABCEP or equivalent PV installation certification preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to pass background and drug screen
  • MEWP / manlift and forklift operator certifications preferred
  • Proficient in English for reading drawings and jobsite communication

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly pay with overtime opportunities
  • Regular commercial project work across Central Florida — steady hours
  • Travel pay / per diem for overnight assignments
  • Tool allowance or reimbursement for job-required tools
  • Health insurance options, 401(k) or retirement plan availability, and paid time off (where offered)
