Superintendent
About This Role
Lead and supervise excavation and grading crews on civil site development projects in Rayville, LA. You’ll run day-to-day site operations — from clearing and mass grading to erosion control and final grade checks — making sure work stays on schedule, on grade, and safe. This hands-on superintendent role requires strong excavation and equipment coordination skills, blueprint reading and surveying know-how, and the ability to train and direct operators and laborers. What You'll Do
- • Supervise and train excavation crews, equipment operators, and laborers; enforce site safety and work standards
- • Direct site clearing, excavation, leveling, mass grading, and erosion-control installation
- • Read and interpret civil drawings; set and check finished grades using laser levels, grade rods, and GPS tools
- • Coordinate heavy earthwork machinery (dozers, excavators, graders, rollers) and manage basic equipment maintenance
- • Schedule daily tasks; track and maintain site records for personnel, materials, and equipment usage
- • Mentor crew members, run site inspections, and ensure compliance with trenching, shoring, and erosion-control requirements
What We're Looking For
- • 5+ years’ experience supervising earthwork or mass grading crews on civil site projects
- • Proven knowledge of heavy equipment operations (dozer, excavator, loader, grader, roller) and ability to direct operators
- • Ability to read civil drawings and set/check grades with laser levels or GPS systems
- • Experience with erosion control, trenching/excavation safety, and work inspection
- • Familiarity with time-and-material tracking, job scheduling, and daily site reporting
- • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate/coordinate lowbed moves and on-site equipment
Qualifications
- • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety card preferred
- • Equipment operator certifications (NCCER or equivalent) preferred
- • CDL Class A preferred for lowbed/haul duties
- • Laser level and GPS grade control training or proven field experience
- • First Aid/CPR certification preferred
- • English required; Spanish or other language skills a plus
