Assistant Superintendent — Austin, TX
About this role
We need an assistant superintendent to support commercial healthcare construction projects in Austin. You’ll work alongside the lead superintendent to keep the jobsite organized, safe, and on schedule from mobilization through closeout. Day-to-day this role focuses on field coordination, schedule tracking, quality control, site logistics and permit/inspection follow-up. Bring hands-on construction experience, strong communication, and the ability to move work forward with trades and vendors.
What you'll do
- • Support day-to-day field operations and coordinate on-site activities with the lead superintendent
- • Manage daily schedule coordination, trade sequencing and short-term look-ahead planning
- • Enforce safety and quality standards; conduct site inspections and toolbox talks as required
- • Prepare and maintain site documentation: daily reports, RFI logs, submittals, and inspection records
- • Coordinate deliveries, material staging, equipment and site layout to support efficient workflows
- • Assist with permit coordination, inspections and corrective actions to ensure code compliance
What we're looking for
- • Proven experience in commercial construction field roles; healthcare project experience preferred
- • Strong verbal and written communication with trades, vendors and project management
- • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, civil plans and construction details
- • Working knowledge of building codes, permit processes and inspection requirements
- • Practical experience enforcing quality control and site safety procedures
- • Familiarity with construction management software (Procore, PlanGrid or similar)
Qualifications
- • OSHA 30-hour construction safety card (preferred)
- • First Aid/CPR certification or equivalent
- • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
- • High school diploma or GED; technical certificate or college coursework a plus
- • Proven ability to read blueprints, civil drawings and site plans
- • Experience coordinating permits, inspections and subcontractor scopes
