Assistant Superintendent
About This Role
Assistant Superintendent needed in Austin, TX to support commercial healthcare construction projects. You’ll work alongside the lead superintendent to keep jobs moving, ensure quality, and keep crews and trades coordinated on fast-paced healthcare job sites. This is a hands-on role: you’ll help run daily field operations, track schedule and inspections, enforce safety and quality standards, and keep project documentation accurate. Expect to be on-site, coordinate with subcontractors and vendors, and handle logistics to meet schedule and scope.
What You'll Do
- • Support day-to-day field operations on commercial healthcare jobs — set up, coordinate crews, and keep work moving
- • Coordinate trade contractors, vendors, and project management to maintain schedule and resolve site issues
- • Enforce safety and quality standards during all phases of work; lead toolbox talks and safety checks
- • Perform and document routine inspections, receive deliveries, inspect materials, and verify work against drawings
- • Assist with schedule tracking, short-term lookahead planning, and reporting progress to the lead superintendent
- • Manage site logistics: layout, access, equipment placement, concrete pours/formwork oversight, and inspection coordination
What We're Looking For
- • 3+ years experience in commercial construction, preferably with healthcare projects or similar regulated environments
- • Working knowledge of building codes, inspections, and permit coordination in Texas
- • Strong blueprint, civil drawing, and technical drawing interpretation skills
- • Hands-on experience with concrete placement, formwork carpentry, and field inspection
- • Clear verbal and written communication; able to lead crews and coordinate multiple trades on-site
- • Familiarity with construction management software, project documentation, and basic cost tracking
Qualifications
- • OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety card (or equivalent)
- • Valid Texas driver’s license and reliable transportation to Austin-area sites
- • Current First Aid/CPR or willingness to obtain within 30 days
- • Ability to pass background check and drug screen
- • Spanish language skills a plus; NCCER or foreman-level credentials helpful
What We Offer
- • Competitive hourly pay (paid weekly or biweekly) and overtime for eligible hours
- • Health insurance options and paid time off available after eligibility period
- • Per diem or travel reimbursement for work outside primary site when required
- • Tool allowance or reimbursement and opportunities for paid safety/trade training
- • Stable, local commercial projects with steady scheduling and chances to advance to lead superintendent
