Drywall Superintendent

Austin, TX

About This Role

Hiring a hands-on Drywall Superintendent to run commercial drywall crews across Austin, TX. You’ll supervise journeyman drywall carpenters, manage layout and installs for metal stud framing and nonbearing partitions, set ceiling grid and acoustical ceilings, and handle top-out drywall hanging and fastening. This is field-first work — you’ll be in the trailer and on the floor making calls and solving real problems. We’re looking for someone with 4+ years in commercial construction who can work on stilts, read plans, set quality standards, coordinate materials, and keep jobs moving on schedule. If you lead by example, hold crews to a high standard, and know drywall systems inside out, this is a steady supervisory role with regular commercial projects in the Austin area.

What You'll Do

  • Supervise and lead journeyman drywall crews on commercial job sites in Austin.
  • Layout, install and inspect metal stud framing for interior and exterior nonbearing partitions.
  • Install ceiling grid and acoustical ceilings; oversee top-out drywall hanging and fastening.
  • Coordinate daily crews, schedule, materials, and subcontractors to keep projects on track.
  • Perform quality checks, enforce jobsite safety, and correct workmanship issues.
  • Train crew on best practices, stilt work, and efficient drywall installation techniques.

What We're Looking For

  • 4+ years commercial construction experience, with supervisory or lead experience preferred.
  • Proven skill in drywall hanging, fastening, and installation (top-out hanging experience).
  • Experience with steel/metal stud framing for interior nonbearing partitions and general framing carpentry.
  • Hands-on experience installing ceiling grid and acoustical ceiling systems.
  • Comfortable working on stilts and at heights; physically able to lift and carry materials.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to multiple job sites.

Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 (required) — OSHA 30 preferred.
  • Stilt training or demonstrated stilt experience.
  • First Aid/CPR preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record; able to pass a drug screen and background check.
  • English required; Spanish a plus.

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay (DOE) with overtime opportunities.
  • Steady commercial projects throughout Austin and surrounding areas.
  • Health insurance options and paid time off.
  • Tool allowance or company-provided PPE and boot allowance.
  • Weekly pay and predictable schedules when on project assignments.
