About This Role

Seeking an experienced Superintendent based in Stafford, VA (serving the Richmond area) with a proven background in heavy civil and earthwork projects. You’ll run day-to-day site operations on utilities, grading and excavation jobs, keep crews and subs productive, and push projects to finish on time and on budget. Strong communication and leadership matter — you’ll coordinate with foremen, inspectors, and project managers to hit construction milestones safely and efficiently.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee daily site operations for heavy civil, earthwork, utilities, grading and excavation projects
  • Manage and coordinate crews, subcontractors, foremen and equipment on-site to meet production targets
  • Develop and maintain work schedules; sequence activities to meet milestones and minimize downtime
  • Enforce safety procedures and quality control; conduct toolbox talks and ensure compliance with OSHA and site rules
  • Read technical drawings and blueprints; maintain accurate project documentation and daily reports
  • Track materials, labor and equipment costs; report schedule and budget status to project management

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years supervising heavy civil/earthwork projects (utilities, grading, excavation) with crew management experience
  • Proven leadership and conflict-resolution skills; able to direct foremen, subcontractors and field crews
  • Proficient with Procore, Bluebeam, AutoDesk tools and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); comfortable with Teams, Slack, Zoom and cloud drives
  • Hands-on knowledge of building codes, site permitting, erosion control, and DOT/utility coordination
  • Experience developing work schedules, managing time-and-materials, and maintaining accurate job documentation
  • Strong verbal and written communication; able to coordinate with inspectors, engineers and project stakeholders

Qualifications

  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certification (required or willing to obtain)
  • First Aid / CPR certification (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; CDL preferred
  • NCCER, Foreman or similar trade supervision certification preferred
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • English required; Spanish-speaking candidates encouraged to apply

What We Offer

  • Pay: $95,000 - $130,000 DOE (competitive, based on experience)
  • Health, dental and vision insurance options
  • 401(k) plan with employer match
  • Paid time off and holiday pay
  • Tool/boots allowance and travel reimbursement for Richmond-area jobs
  • Training and certification reimbursement (safety and technical)
