Per diem
Traveling Concrete Superintendent
About this role
Traveling Concrete Superintendent based in Albany, NY — lead full lifecycle construction of large pre-stressed concrete liquid storage tanks at project sites nationwide. This is a hands-on, per diem role that puts you in charge of safety, quality, scheduling, and client relationships from layout through closeout. You’ll direct field crews and subcontractors, enforce the site safety program, manage concrete placement and formwork operations, and keep projects on schedule using ERP and field-reporting tools. Strong field leadership, concrete experience, and willingness to travel extensively are required.
What you'll do
- • Direct all on-site activities: supervise crews and subcontractors for safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery.
- • Read and interpret contract and civil drawings; oversee layout, formwork, line & grade, concrete placement, testing, and curing operations.
- • Champion and enforce the company safety program with regular inspections, toolbox talks, and compliance with local, state, and federal rules.
- • Manage schedules, crew allocations, materials, equipment and project documentation using ERP and field-management tools; maintain accurate daily reports and RFI logs.
- • Lead quality assurance and punch-list closeout: perform inspections, document deficiencies, and verify corrective actions to meet project standards.
- • Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, engineers, inspectors and vendors; mentor assistant superintendents and develop field staff through hands-on coaching.
What we're looking for
- • 6+ years of hands-on construction field leadership or a bachelor’s in construction management with equivalent experience; proven superintendent-level experience on large concrete projects.
- • Direct experience with pre-stressed or large-diameter concrete tank construction, formwork systems, line & grade, concrete placement and testing protocols.
- • Solid knowledge of safety regulations, crane operations, rigging and lifting procedures; proven track record enforcing site safety practices.
- • Proficient with tablets and laptops for field reporting; experience using ERP, scheduling and field management software (no specific vendor names required).
- • Strong communication, time management and conflict-resolution skills; able to coordinate multiple crews, inspectors and subcontractors on remote job sites.
- • Willingness to travel extensively nationwide and work at remote sites; able to live on per diem while on assignment and relocate if needed.
Qualifications
- • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred (or equivalent site safety training).
- • Crane signaling / rigging certification (or documented experience with crane operations and rigging).
- • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; willingness to travel by air and drive to remote sites.
- • Ability to pass drug screen and background check as required by project owners.
- • Working knowledge of construction drawing interpretation and quality inspection procedures.
- • Ability to work in variable weather conditions, lift moderate weight, and be on your feet for long shifts on active job sites.
What we offer
- • Per diem while on assignment (daily living allowance) and company-covered travel and lodging during project work.
- • Health, dental and vision insurance options and retirement savings plan eligibility.
- • Structured training and leadership development to grow field skills and advance to larger project roles.
- • Relocation assistance and support for candidates willing to move into the Albany, NY area.
- • Company-paid certifications and training related to safety and rigging as required by projects.
- • Hands-on role on high-profile infrastructure projects with clear responsibility and on-site decision-making authority.
