Surveyor — Foreman, Rodman, Instrument Operator

Forsyth, GA $23-$38/hr

About this role

We are hiring survey crew members in Forsyth, GA. Openings include foreman-level leadership, instrument operator, and entry-level rodman roles. Crews perform land and hydrographic surveys, stake sites, and support construction layout across regional projects. Expect hands-on field work on open sites and waterways, reading plans, setting control, and guiding less-experienced crew members when in a foreman role. Positions are full-time, site-based — occasional overtime and regional travel may be required depending on project needs.

What you'll do

  • Work on a land surveying crew performing property, boundary, and hydrographic surveys
  • Operate and maintain instruments: total station, GPS/GNSS, levels, and related gear
  • Perform site layout, staking, control setups, and as-built data collection
  • Read and interpret civil and technical drawings, plats, and blueprints on site
  • Lead crew activities and coordinate daily tasks when assigned a foreman role
  • Keep accurate field notes, collect survey data, and prepare clear deliverables

What we're looking for

  • Hands-on experience with land and property surveying methods
  • Familiarity with hydrographic surveying or willingness to train on water-based work
  • Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, technical plans, and blueprints
  • Skill in site layout, staking, and setting control points
  • Safe work habits around heavy equipment and in varied weather/terrain
  • Dependable transportation to Forsyth-area job sites and ability to travel regionally

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • OSHA 10 (or site-specific safety training) preferred or required where applicable
  • Experience operating GPS/GNSS receivers and total stations
  • Proven crew experience; supervisory or foreman experience for lead roles
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred
  • Ability to read and produce clear field notes and digital survey files

What we offer

  • Health insurance options and access to medical benefits
  • Paid time off and holiday pay
  • Overtime opportunities for field hours beyond standard schedule
  • Tool and boot allowance or reimbursement for required PPE
  • Company-supported safety and site-specific training
  • Mileage reimbursement or travel per diem for regional assignments
