Surveyor Foreman

About this role

Local surveying crew hiring in and around Forsyth, GA. Positions available from entry-level rodman to instrument operator, with foreman-level leadership roles for experienced candidates. Work is outdoors, hands-on, and focused on land, property, and hydrographic surveys. You’ll join a small field crew doing site layout, boundary and topographic work, recording accurate measurements, and keeping equipment ready. We need dependable people who can read civil and technical drawings, operate survey instruments, and follow safety procedures. Weekend work is rare; overtime available when projects demand it.

What you'll do

  • Work on land and hydrographic survey crews: set up total stations, GPS, levels, and sounding gear
  • Perform site layout, boundary and topographic surveys; stake lines and elevations per plans
  • Collect, record and check field data for accuracy; maintain field notes and digital files
  • Lead and direct crew members (foreman role): assign tasks, check work, and keep projects on schedule
  • Read and follow civil drawings, plats, and blueprints to perform layout and verification
  • Maintain and care for survey instruments, boats (if used), hand tools, and vehicles

What we're looking for

  • Hands-on experience in land surveying, property surveying, or hydrographic surveying
  • Skilled operating total stations, GPS units, levels and common hydrographic gear
  • Ability to interpret civil drawings, technical drawings and blueprints for site layout
  • Comfort with field math, measuring distances/angles, and checking grades/elevations
  • Physically able to work outdoors in all weather, lift equipment, and access rough terrain
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to/from jobsites

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Surveyor-in-Training (SIT) or related certification preferred but not required
  • OSHA 10 or similar safety training preferred
  • Experience operating boats or hydrographic equipment a plus
  • Must pass background check and drug screen
  • English proficiency for site communication; additional language skills a plus
