Robotic Field Engineer / Construction Surveyor

About This Role

Join a busy Nashville field team as a Robotic Field Engineer / Construction Surveyor. You’ll run Leica robotic total stations, perform layouts, process data in Carlson and AutoCAD, and lead small survey crews on commercial and multi-family jobs across the city. This is steady, local, full-time work on organized jobsites. Expect hands-on fieldwork in all weather and at heights, clear lines of communication with project teams, and a role where accuracy, safety, and practical problem solving matter every day.

What You'll Do

  • Lead survey teams as Party Chief or Crew Chief; assign tasks and verify work meets project tolerances
  • Perform construction layouts and stakeout using Leica robotic total stations and related equipment
  • Collect and process field data; produce and revise drawings using Carlson and AutoCAD
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot survey instruments and field gear
  • Read and interpret blueprints, civil drawings, and layout plans to ensure correct installations
  • Coordinate with superintendents, foremen, and subcontractors to resolve field layout issues

What We're Looking For

  • Experience as a Field Engineer, Surveyor, Party Chief, or Crew Chief on commercial or multi-family projects
  • Proficiency with Leica robotic total stations, Carlson software, and AutoCAD
  • Solid understanding of construction surveying practices, site layout, and tolerance control
  • Comfort working outdoors in all weather, at heights, and lifting up to 75 pounds
  • Strong leadership, clear verbal and written communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, civil plans, and blueprints

Qualifications

  • Experience operating and troubleshooting Leica robotic total stations
  • Proficient in Carlson and AutoCAD (field-to-office workflows)
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree/certificate in surveying preferred
  • OSHA 10 (or higher) preferred and strong commitment to jobsite safety
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to local job sites
  • Ability to pass drug screen and background check
