CDL B Dump Truck Driver

About This Role

CDL B Dump Truck Driver needed in Fredericksburg, VA to support heavy civil construction projects including site work, grading, mass excavation, mainline pipe, processed water, milling, and paving. This is a per diem role that moves materials between active job sites — dirt, stone, asphalt and milling debris — on projects across the region. You must have at least 2 years of safe dump truck experience, a valid CDL B, and a strong commitment to DOT and site safety. Expect steady, hands-on work, daily vehicle checks, accurate logs, and close communication with site supervisors and equipment operators.

What You'll Do

• • Safely operate dump trucks to haul dirt, stone, asphalt and milling debris between job sites
• • Support grading, excavation, mainline pipe, processed water, milling and paving operations by hauling and placing material as directed
• • Load and unload materials; ensure legal weight limits, secure loads and proper weight distribution
• • Follow assigned haul routes, traffic laws and company/DOT safety policies
• • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and basic maintenance checks; report defects
• • Maintain accurate delivery, load and mileage logs and communicate with supervisors and crew

What We're Looking For

• • Minimum 2 years safe dump truck experience in heavy civil construction
• • Valid CDL B license with a clean driving record (CDL A a plus)
• • Knowledge of DOT regulations, weight limits and safe load securement
• • Ability to perform physically demanding work in varied weather conditions
• • Basic mechanical aptitude for daily truck inspections and minor maintenance
• • Clear communication skills to coordinate with supervisors, operators and traffic control

Qualifications

• • Valid CDL B license (CDL A considered an asset)
• • Minimum 2 years operating dump trucks in construction
• • Clean driving record and ability to pass DOT drug screen
• • Current DOT medical examiner certificate (or ability to obtain)
• • Familiarity with manual and automatic transmissions and basic vehicle systems
