SuperVac / Hydrovac Operator — Truck Driver

Phoenix, AZ $23-$33/hr

About this role

We’re hiring an experienced SuperVac/Hydrovac Operator to run vacuum-excavation and hydro-excavation trucks out of Phoenix, AZ. This is a field-based, safety-sensitive CDL role that combines commercial driving with hands-on site work: potholing, trenching, debris removal, spill support and industrial/environmental services across Arizona and nearby states. This is not a standard delivery or linehaul driver job. Expect extensive travel, variable schedules (overtime, nights, weekends) and emergency-response assignments. You’ll perform vehicle and equipment inspections, complete DOT paperwork and JHAs, troubleshoot basic mechanical issues, and work on physically demanding outdoor sites while following strict safety procedures.

What you'll do

  • Operate SuperVac, hydrovac and vacuum trucks for hydro-excavation, potholing, slot trenching, trenching and debris removal.
  • Safely expose underground utilities using non-destructive excavation methods and support environmental or spill-response work on site.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip DOT inspections, maintain driver logs, complete JHAs, manifests and required field documentation.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting on hoses, pumps, tanks, blowers, valves and truck systems.
  • Set up and break down work sites: traffic control/flagging, site protection, cleanup and coordination with crews or customers.
  • Travel to job sites across Arizona and neighboring states; respond to overtime, night, weekend and emergency assignments as required.

What we're looking for

  • Valid Class A or Class B CDL and current DOT medical card; acceptable driving record.
  • Minimum experience operating commercial vehicles or heavy equipment; direct hydrovac/vacuum-truck experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations, ability to complete required driver paperwork and follow safety procedures.
  • Ability to perform physical fieldwork: lift up to 50 lbs, work outdoors in hot/cold/dusty conditions and stand on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to pass DOT drug screen, background check and DOT physical; willing to travel and work variable schedules (overtime, nights, weekends).
  • Mechanical aptitude for routine hydraulic and diesel maintenance, plus basic troubleshooting of vacuum and pump systems.

Qualifications

  • Class A or Class B CDL (required)
  • Current DOT medical card (required)
  • Ability to pass DOT drug screen and background check (required)
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 (preferred)
  • First Aid / CPR certification (preferred)
  • Tanker endorsement (preferred)
  • Proven experience operating SuperVac, hydrovac or vacuum trucks (preferred)
  • English — reading and writing proficiency required

What we offer

  • Paid site-specific training and certification support (OSHA, First Aid/CPR)
  • PPE and uniforms provided
  • Overtime and emergency-response opportunities
  • Travel per diem or expense reimbursement for multi-day assignments
  • Hands-on mechanical training and career growth into equipment maintenance or operator lead roles
