Lowboy/Lowbed CDL Driver
About This Role
Seeking a reliable Lowboy/Lowbed CDL-A driver to run heavy-haul loads in and around Richmond, VA. This role focuses on hauling oversized and heavy equipment using lowboy/lowbed trailers. Candidates must be comfortable with load securement, DOT paperwork, and driving long or regional routes. You’ll perform hands-on work loading and unloading, perform pre- and post-trip inspections, and follow DOT safety rules. This is a practical, safety-first driving role for experienced heavy-haul operators who want steady work and clear expectations.
What You'll Do
- • Operate lowboy/lowbed trailers to transport heavy equipment and machinery safely to job sites
- • Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip vehicle inspections and report defects
- • Secure loads using chains, binders and proper blocking/bracing methods following securement rules
- • Complete DOT logbooks, manifests and load paperwork accurately and turn in receipts
- • Communicate with dispatch and site contacts about ETA, load status, and any issues
- • Assist with loading/unloading when needed and maintain basic trailer and equipment upkeep
What We're Looking For
- • Valid CDL-A license with appropriate endorsements
- • Experience with heavy hauling on lowboy/lowbed trailers
- • Proven ability to tow and operate double or triple trailers safely
- • Experience operating tank and flatbed vehicles is required
- • Clean driving record and strong knowledge of DOT hours-of-service and safety rules
- • Ability to perform physical work: climbing trailers, securing loads, and handling chains/binders
Qualifications
- • CDL-A (required)
- • Current DOT Medical Card (MEC) / valid physical
- • Clean driving record and able to pass background and drug screening
- • Experience or certification in load securement and heavy-haul procedures
- • Proficient in English for reading manifests, maps and communicating with dispatch
