Tack Truck Driver

About This Role

Join a paving crew in Philadelphia as a Tack Truck Driver applying liquid asphalt (tack coat) to road surfaces ahead of paving operations. You’ll be responsible for safe, precise application, keeping traffic safe, and helping crews stay on schedule. This is hands-on heavy equipment driving work — you must have a valid Class B CDL with Tanker endorsement, feel comfortable operating tanker spraying equipment, and follow DOT and company safety standards. The role includes daily vehicle inspections, maintaining logs, and basic truck upkeep.

What You'll Do

• • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections; report defects or safety issues to the shop immediately
• • Drive tanker and apply bituminous tack coat to road surfaces in coordination with paving crews
• • Maintain accurate truck logs and records in compliance with DOT, state, and federal regulations
• • Report site and traffic conditions, route restrictions, and any safety concerns to crew leads
• • Keep truck clean, perform basic maintenance, and comply with the Truck Driver's Handbook

What We're Looking For

• • Valid Class B CDL with Tanker endorsement (required)
• • 1–2 years CDL driving experience with GVW 33,000 lbs or greater
• • Knowledge of DOT logbook rules and state/federal driving regulations
• • Ability to operate tack spraying equipment and work closely with paving crews
• • Able to work outdoors in all weather, follow traffic control, and communicate clearly on site

Qualifications

• • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent work experience)
• • Valid Class B CDL (required)
• • Tanker endorsement (required); Hazmat endorsement preferred
• • Meet DOT physical requirements and able to pass drug screen and background check
• • 1–2 years of CDL driving experience (GVW 33,000+)
