Water/Tack Truck Driver — Fredericksburg, VA

About This Role

Drive and operate a water/tack truck supporting paving crews in and around Fredericksburg, VA. You’ll be responsible for safely transporting water and tack materials to job sites, maintaining proper tank levels, and working with crews to keep paving operations running on schedule. This is a hands-on driving role that requires strict adherence to DOT and company safety rules. You’ll perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections, keep accurate logs, report equipment issues, and communicate site or traffic concerns to supervisors and crew leads.

What You'll Do

• • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections; report defects or safety concerns to the shop immediately
• • Drive tanker/tack truck to job sites, control tanker systems and apply commercial driving rules and safe driving practices
• • Maintain accurate truck logs and paperwork in compliance with federal and state DOT regulations
• • Monitor and maintain proper water/tack levels on assigned equipment; assist with loading/unloading when needed
• • Work directly with paving crews on site, communicate traffic or site issues, and follow site safety and flagging instructions

What We're Looking For

• • Valid Class B CDL with Tanker (N) endorsement required
• • Meets DOT physical/medical card requirements and able to pass DOT drug screen
• • 1–2 years commercial driving experience with GVW 33,000 lbs or greater preferred
• • Ability to perform and document pre/post-trip inspections and basic vehicle maintenance checks
• • Comfort working outdoors at paving sites; able to follow directions from crew leads and perform manual tasks as needed

Qualifications

• • Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• • Tanker endorsement (required); Hazmat endorsement preferred
• • Current DOT medical card (able to meet DOT physical requirements)
• • Minimum 1–2 years driving experience with heavy vehicles (33,000+ GVW)
• • Ability to pass background check and DOT drug/alcohol screening
